Discussion Forum : Logical Deduction - Section 1 (Q.No. 40)
Directions to Solve
In each question below are given two statements followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. You have to take the given two statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read the conclusion and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the two given statements, disregarding commonly known facts.
Give answer:
- (A) If only conclusion I follows
- (B) If only conclusion II follows
- (C) If either I or II follows
- (D) If neither I nor II follows and
- (E) If both I and II follow.

Yea I think it should be B because it clearly says that "some" scooters fly so that obviously means that some scooters do not fly.

Option D is correct in only condition if we follow that neither truck nor scooter can fly, no need to follow any chart or pie diagrams.

If it is resolved using Venn diagrams, then scooter and fly overlap/intersect. since no other information is present, we can assume the non-overlapping regions to be complement of each other, i.e., some scooters do not fly.

Answer is 'B'.
If all scooters fly then what is the significance of the sentence "Some scooters fly".
If "Some scooters fly", definitely others don't fly.

I also think the same. What is the correct answer anyway?

Flying is thought of as an attribute for a scooter. So if some scooters fly, then only some scooters possess that attribute. The others clearly don't, so they don't fly.

When it is mentioned that some scooters fly so surely some scooters do not fly.
