Here the option talks about these statements being cause of something.

Whereas option D says these are independent effects of a common cause.

Option c - the two statements are independent causes.
Option d - because of two different causes there are two different effect
heat is cause temperature is an effect. Due to the addition of heat temperature is going to rise.

The cause is common but its effects are different. The above two conditions are effects (and not causes) from a common cause.
