No, It is wrongly assumed here that the residents are major consumers and hence with their high paying capacity come the higher sales. On this basis, they have written the answer to be A. But maybe the sellers majorly reside in the locality so because of higher sales they are rich. So the answer may be B as well.

Where in the statement is it mentioned that the " local supermarket are comparatively much higher than in other localities "due to Statement 1" The success of the supermarket might be for a different reason too.
