Hardwork: more efforts but less work.

Smart work: fewer efforts but more work.

In my opinion, both are necessary so I will choose to do h/w in a smarter way.

The only difference is of time. You can achieve same results as working hard but in lesser time while working smartly.

Hard work is doing a particular work with physical abilities, lot of time and it is a tedious work.

Smart work is applying mental efforts rather than physical work to reduce time and energy. It is the work in the creative way to get more results.
