Hard work naively means about working for hours without time management. On the other hand, smart work is all about managing the time, utilising and understanding the value of time and work in a better managing way.

Hard work: it will take more effort to complete any work with more time.
Smart work: it will take less effort to finish same work with smartness.
But both are necessary for life by doing hard work in a smarter way.

According to my opinion, hard work means doing any work with dedication. It is time-consuming and takes much more effort. And smart work means to do any work in a short period of time smartly. It takes less effort.
