Confidence implies believing in yourself that "I can do it. " but at the same time not losing any chance to improve on yourself, taking advice from appropriate sources and persons and hard work towards one's goal. On the other hand, over confidence makes one believe that they are on the peak and can never fall. They think that there's nothing more to improve on yourself. That's where over-confidence results in fall.
There exists a very slight boundary between the two but its plays one of the most vital roles in deciding one's future!

Confidence means any one can ask a question I can answer that question either it is correct or not. If the answering way represents how much we are confident to that situation. Over confidence means if answering that question and the answer is wrong but the person always says it is correct they did not convince with that answer that represents over confidence.

If I say I can do this that is confidence.
If I say only I can do this, no one can do this that is over confidence.
If I say only I can do this, no one can do this that is over confidence.

Confidence is having perks between passing and failing. You have the guts to pass and at the same time to fail the exam, you are not afraid of failure. And you're in doubt of passing, therefore you will prepare and review for exams, then you will succeed. You are more into preparation than the result.
Over confidence you are jumping into conclusion that you have been succeeded with less effort or preparation, then you'll fail. You are more into results than preparation.

1. Confidence is the sureness came from my past results and makes me more strength.
2. Over-confidence is an excessive belief in my ability which makes me to not believe that my decisions may go wrong.
Ex: I can do this work which previously I have done and I have experience (confidence).
I can only do this work and no one can do this (overconfidence).
