Hi everyone.

Let's further discuss this topic, whether tobacco is banned or not.

In my opinion, banning tobacco is not a great solution because it plays a major role in our GDP. And about the tax rate, it is already very high. This part goes to the government and, in other ways, benefits the people through pensions and so on. I also add one thing, the government should add such compliances like CSR initiatives for every tobacco manufacturing for the welfare of people. This must be strictly followed; if not, your licenses will be revoked, and you will be unable to conduct such business in the future.

Hello everyone!

From my perspective, the government should ban tobacco. Nowadays, youngsters are consuming tobacco for joy and happiness; they don't know the serious consequences and impacts of consuming tobacco.
So, strictly prohibited for those under 18 and takes severe action if they consume tobacco. The government should spread awareness to people who consume tobacco. Most people are deeply addicted to smoking. We have one life. So, live happily and healthily. Our country has become tobacco-free. It will save all families' lives. #Stay Healthier and Happier.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

Today, our topic is that Tobacco must be banned. Yes or No.

It's not a small thing to ban or not. On one hand, tobacco is harmful to health, and someone addicted to tobacco spoils their life, and their family also suffers from their addiction. Nowadays, most of the young stars are also addicted. So, in this hand, the government regulates tobacco. To give conditions to a wine or tobacco shop, don't give the tobacco for under 30 years people.

On the other hand, to ban tobacco, tobacco farmer are hopelessly losing their employment. So, my suggestion is government give some instructions or regulations to the people on to use of tobacco.

Good everyone.

As my point of view, tobacco must be banned because it is very dangerous for our health. I know some people are addicted and they are trying to move on, but they can't because of addiction so the best option is that the government should make some natural candy or medicine which helps to move away from tobacco. It is very dangerous it can cause death. Government have to work on this topic first because not necessary for today, but also for future generations, also motivate from this thing. So, in my point of view, it should be banned.

Good morning, everyone. I am Santosh Mishra. Thanks for giving me this opportunity to counter this problem,

In my point of view, tobacco must be banned in our society because it's harmful to our health and causes many diseases. You know that cancer generally happens due to tobacco, not only tobacco, but also many alcoholic things.

A simple explanation that I want to give you is that we generally buy a 10 rupee tobacco or other alcoholic thing that's not much more than 1000rs, but if you think it deeply a 10 rupee tobacoo cause a disease and the amount of that disease is at least 100000.

So why we use tobacco and why do we push our lives to death as we know it clearly.

So, according to me, not only tabacco but also alcoholic things are must be banned in our society.

Thank you.

Good morning everyone.

Today, our topic is “Is tobacco banned in India or not?”.

My point of view on this topic is very simple,
As every coin has two sides. Pros and cons. Tobacco also has advantages and disadvantages from different perspectives.

On one hand, tobacco is harmful. Nowadays, many youths are wasting their lives due to such addictions. Once they start using tobacco, it becomes very difficult for them to quit. It affects their health, career, and future.

On the other hand, banning tobacco can cause a big loss to farmers who depend on tobacco farming for their livelihood. For them, it is a major source of income.

So, tobacco is a complex issue that affects both public health and farmers’ lives.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

In my opinion, tobacco should be banned.

As we all know, it's the reason for diseases like cancer, yet those who buy tobacco even after knowing what it can cause, it's like paying someone to have a slow poison.

Also, if you have a family to take care of, why poison yourself? Instead of it, save that money for your family.

Even these people cause our environment to be dirty by splitting up in many places.

So, it would be right to ban tobacco.

Hello all,

In India, around 100 million people currently use tobacco, and approximately 45.7 million employees are involved in tobacco manufacturing and allied activities, including nearly 20 million farmers. This clearly indicates that tobacco use and production operate on a very large scale.

Due to this significant dependence, a sudden ban on tobacco may not be practical. Abrupt prohibition could have serious consequences for habitual users, including severe withdrawal effects and behavioural issues. Moreover, an immediate ban would negatively impact farmers and workers whose livelihoods depend on tobacco cultivation and manufacturing.

Therefore, instead of an instant ban, a gradual and phased reduction is a more effective approach. The first step should be to create strong awareness programs, especially targeting young people, to prevent new users from adopting tobacco habits. At the same time, the government should take responsibility for providing alternative employment opportunities and support systems for farmers and workers who rely on the tobacco industry.

By implementing these measures in parallel, India can realistically move toward the goal of a tobacco-free nation. This approach has already shown positive results. For example, in 2015, around 130 million people in India used tobacco, whereas the number has now reduced to approximately 100 million. This decline proves that, with sustained cooperation between the government and the public, India can eventually become a tobacco-free country.

Thank you.

I think Tobacco must be banned but not abruptly as it will affect our farmers who are solely dependent on tobacco farming.

Various campaign must be held throughout the year by various Agencies so that tobacco consumption should be minimised and it should be banned for teenagers.

Addition to these things will not only thik our present generation but also the future generations to come.

Farmers on the other hand, should be given an alternative employment.

Tobacco Must Be Banned – Yes or No?

Tobacco is a product which Iis made from tobacco plant and is consumed in various forms such as cigarettes, gutkha, cigar, bidis, chewing tobacco. It is widely used around the world despite it contains harmful effects on health.

The question is:

Should the tobacco is completely banned or should adults have the freedom to whether to use it?

This topic has the strong arguments on both sides.

Important Statistics:

Global statistics:

Tobacco kills more than 8 millon people every year worldwide.

Around 1.3 million deaths occur due to the exposure of the second hand smoke. Tobacco is on of the leading cause of the presentable deaths globally.

India Statistics:

India has the million of the tobacco users, including smokers and users of smokeless tobacco.

Tobacco related diseases causes a large number deaths every year.

The government spends significant resources on treating the tobacco related illness.
This shows that the tobacco is the major public health concern.

Argument against a ban ( No, tobacco should not be completely banned)

1. Personal freedom
Adults should have the right to make their own choices.

Impact :
If informed about risks , adults should decide for themselves whether to use tobacco.

2. Economic impact:
The tobacco industry provides the employment to many people.
Examples:
Farmers
Factory workers
Retail sellers.

Impact:
A complete ban could affect livelihoods.

3. Risk of Illegal trade
History shows that banning the popular products can create the black markets.

Possible consequences:
Smuggling
Counterfeit products
Loss of government control.

4. Government Revenue.
Governments earn significant tax revenue from tobacco products.

Impact:
This revenue support the public services and development programs.

5. Better Alternative: Regulation
Some people argue that struct regulation is more effective than complete ban.

Impact:

High taxes .
Warning labels
Advertisement restrictions.
Public awareness campaign.

Impact on the Society:

- Positive effects of a ban:
- Better public health.
- Reduces healthcare cost.
- Fewer tobacco related deaths.
- Cleaner public spaces.
- Negative effects of a ban:
- Job losses in tobacco related sectors.

- Challenges in enforcement.

Possible solution:
Instead of the immediate complete ban , the government can:

3. Restrict the sales to minors.
4. Expand the smoking free public areas.
5. Provide the support for writing the tobacco.
6. Regulate the advertising and packaging strictly .
