Reading through these comments I see that the main point raised by people who think the national anthem should be played is a " show of patriotism", let me ask if playing the national anthem inculcate patriotism why don't we just play it everywhere from hotels to hospitals.
Well my point is I think things that symbolize our nation should be respected let it be our national flag anthem emblem or anything but introducing them into places like a movie hall is unnecessary and will only rip it of its value because where should the national anthem be played? at events of national importance and at some institutions where it holds rarity and value.
There are better ways to contribute to your nation and patriotism is not a show off it should be feeling from within we have days to reminisce about the men/women who died protecting our country just like we have days for all those from varied professions who contributed in its cause before and after independence [so see we don't need boosts of the national anthem for that] and yes for those who said it's just 52 seconds compared to a 2-3 hour movie the point is not the time here but what the anthem holds in a movie hall where I watched romcom movie yesterday.

I see absolutely no reason to attempt to arouse patriotic feelings in a crowd that has gone to the cinemas solely for entertainment. Not a single soul goes there to get patriotically recharged. Here are a few other reasons;.
Playing national anthem is a total distraction from the mood that one goes to a movie theatre for.
Just playing or singing national anthem does not instil more patriotism.
Patriotism is tied to a country's boundary. It does not expand to humans or beings and therefore it makes you isolated in your thoughts and approach to how your perceive the world around you.
The patriotic feeling in the heart is something that was high in demand at a certain time in the past. There are other causes that need more attention such as cleanliness, giving respect to others, caring for the poor, and the list goes on. What good does it do our society or to humanity if a person has a patriotic feeling or not?
The legal system has better things to do. Cases stay pending for decades in the legal system and that is what they should focus on flushing out. This is not a legal issue - it is an issue relating to entertainment and people's patriotic feelings.
No other country in the world does it.

In my view, it should be played in cinema hall before starting the patriotic movies or movies on social thinking or movies about our soldiers then it will be a great respect for national anthem & also it will show our respect towards the society & soldiers & anthem that at least we are giving some part of time to sing national anthem from our entertainment time. It will give us the zeal to feel like a patriot, we will feel unite ourselves, i.e there are different variety & culture of people in cinema hall & we are presenting a unity in diversity that will a great achievement. Before watching the movie we will have the enthusiasm so that we can enjoy the movie with patriot feeling.
But it will a disrespect to play the national anthem before the adult or bulgur movies.
But our society will not change by playing national anthem anywhere whether it will be public or cinema hall, our society will change by changing our habits & doing a great contribution to the betterment of society.
Today's youngs are not on the right track so it will be a great measure to set back them on the right track & it depends on you whether you are respecting or not your national anthem.

According to me, there is no need to play our national anthem inside cinema hall, because its not necessary. If you want to show patriotrism for our country so you should strictly follow our country rules & regulations.
You need to give respect to our soldiers, support them & their family.
We all get a chance of participation when our national anthem is playing on the occasion of republic day &. Independence day.
But if you really want to be a part of the national anthem on some other days. So you need to consider my following suggestions.
1) You should play it every day in your home at morning.
2) You should raise your voice to start new rule which is to play it every day in colleges, public & private offices.
3) government need to make one national anthem zone inside every city so it will also become a great part of showing communal harmony.
Before starting movies playing of the national anthem is not correct because it's not a right place. Even we don't know how many peoples are get standing or not, with this our national anthem get insulted & disrespected.
So I am strictly against to this rule. (hope you like this).

To all the people who are in favour of playing the national anthem in the movie halls, when you say that the anthem instils pride in you and to quote one of the answers, "gives goosebumps and butterflies", good for you! But when you say that it is the only way to respect the nation, I think you couldn't be farther from the truth. If a song is the only way you can think of instilling patriotism in people, you're rather weak in your will and seem like you can be swayed to the other side when not playing it!
Is that the case?
To say that there is only one way to feel patriotic and one way to properly respect an entity is dictatorial and not freedom. Even more ironic is when the people who feel so patriotic after the anthem pay bribes to cops, go the wrong side on the roads, litter the streets, etc after coming out of the movie halls. So much for the lecture on patriotism!
If you want to show your patriotism, stop enforcing your rules on others. Help people around you. Take care of your environment. Do things that make the world a better place to live. Branding anyone who thinks differently as an anti-national is just the beginning of a tyrant society.

Hi All;.
I totally support the idea of palying National Anthem in Cinema Hall. I don't think it will have any disrespect for our National Anthem. I also read some friends views that what would be the respect for our National Anthem before the start of Adult movies. It doesn't matter that's different part of anyone life and people go in Cinema Hall toust have some entertainment and they won't mind to stand up for 2 mjnutes while playing National Anthem.
I also recommend to make this rule mandatory in every private or goverment offices before the start of work or shifts inside and outside of offices. It will really have some very positive effect to our society.
One more thing that want to add here, we should also make a rule of sending every indians for Army service in the begining stage of their life i.e. at the age of 18 as this is the age where we will. Be able to inculcate huge patriotism in our young people for our country and automaticall it will be passed in the same way generations to generations. I am sure once we start doing all this so many bad things will automatically fade away in our this beautiful country.

Hi, I am Raj.
Actually, this is a very provocative question for the Indians. But I think national anthem shouldn't be supposed to make compulsory in cinema halls, it is only good up to some places.
Tell me one thing, today most of the films are based on full of love, romance, vulgarity, abusive languages; so what is the need to play there national anthem? It shows our disrespect nature towards our nation, moreover I have seen many of the foreigners who visit our Indian cinema hall, don't give so much attention, they are gossiping at that moment, so what is the need to stand? Only for formalities? If it is, we don't need formalities. Even many Indian youths are doing the same thing. They visit cinema halls with their girlfriend and occupy the corner sit just for romance during the entire 2 hours. Singing national anthem at such type of places really lowers the values of our national anthem. If you really want to do for nation, then do something magical which is best for the nation India. Don't worry about the national anthem, it is played in every schools, by thousands of lips everyday. Our India was best, is best and will always be the best.

Hello everyone, according to me,
Playing of the national anthem in cinema halls should not be mandatory. National Anthem symbolizes love and respect for the country which one harbours in his or her heart. So national anthem should be played in those places where people actually worship their motherland. In movie halls, people mostly come to get themselves entertained and relaxed while munching some eateries. Some even get busy to have fun with their beloved in the corner seat. Should national anthem be played in such an environment where people mostly stand up during the national anthem out of compulsion?
Mostly they stand up to avoid criticism from others. So in such a condition the decorum which should be present is not maintained.
Moreover, patriotism cannot be forcefully instilled in someone's mind. It should come from the very core of our heart and then only we can give the desired respect that our national anthem deserves.
So, I think instead of just standing during the national anthem if one indulge himself in any activity regarding upliftment of society it will be a true gesture of love and respect for the nation and its people.

Hi,
I really want to contradict you at this point, that people should not be forced to sing National Anthem in cinema halls. I think its alright there should be no forcing in that, in fact, next time when you are at the cinema hall don't stand and sing The National Anthem. Instead, relax and watch the crowd singing it in sync. Because you know what according to me 'Patriotism' doesn't need to choose a place really. I mean I am not asking you to sing in the washroom or something stupid like that but a cinema hall is a place where people come together, hence it is a good place to sing since all eyes are on the screens already so no forcing. It was also mentioned that if it made to sing in cinema halls, then why not in public places like railway stations. So I want to tell you, my friend, that nobody has the time and interest, besides everyone is in their own haste so its impossible! Whereas in a cinema hall, all you gotta do is sit back relax and keep your eyes glued to the screens. So when we are there for the whole time to sit back leaned on our chairs, we can't even spare those two minutes to get up sing our national anthem, can we?
