Religion should never be separated from politics, if the rulers are serious about their/our life. Religion is not what we do in religious places. It is much deeper and involves life and death matter. I believe that firstly every God says 'love your fellow human beings' " this is accepted even by the non-believers. Secondly, God is our Father and we are his children, who expects us to treat everyone as brothers and sisters. Finally, we are accountable to nature and to one another as brothers and sisters. This brings us to the conclusion that Religion is the way we live our faith that is, we are the children of the God of LOVE, who wants us to treat one another equally in every way.
Politics is the way we help this religion of LOVE coming to reality. Politicians are expected to facilitate this ideal of fraternity, which is in the Indian Constitution -the Preamble.
To make it simple, religion is the real communism - in the positive sense- in which God is the head, love is his path and brotherhood is the motto or final goal.
Unfortunately, capitalistic principles do not go with this line of thinking, as SELF GLORY is their motto and domination is their path, which is questioned by the Religion of LOVE, which does not allow the rulers to get richer. By the way, minister means servant and not a ruler. Their core self is questioned by the true Religion. Therefore, they separated it has been unable to satisfy their conscience. If we are serious about establishing a true society, Religion of LOVE should be the base for all our life - Economic, Social and political. If we are cowards and do not have the courage to be servants of people - whatever the walk of life we are in, we may separate religion from politics. For your information, in earlier societies, ETHICS was taught in one class, which included morality and politics as they could not be separated.

By responding to the arguments of people who claim that politics is separate from religion, it will be proven that this cannot be the case and that religion is part and parcel of politics. To those who say that the essence of politics and the essence of religion are at odds and for this reason they cannot be combined, the following can be said: Religious politics means the management of a society based upon the values and criterion of religion, in order that the society reaches wholeness and true balance; there does not exist any logical contradictions in the issue of religious politics.
In response to the argument that religious laws are matters that are "on occasion", it must be stated that this is not only applicable to religion or the precepts of religion in the political arena, but it applies to every body of laws which is in existence (all of these are based on circumstances and the situation at hand).
Also, in response to the argument that religion is an unchangeable matter and the world and its politics are always changing, and therefore, an unchangeable body is unable to manage something which is always in a state of change, it is said that: religion and this world both possess changeable and non-changeable aspects, and each part of religion has to do with its corresponding part of worldly matters. In relation to those who say that Islamic jurisprudential management is inefficient or incompetent, it must be said that Islam takes into consideration all changing and nonchanging aspects of individual and social life and guides people to a correct way of life with all of these aspects factored in. The existence of the jurisprudential method, which is the standard way of understanding religion, provides and ensures the correct understanding of this religion. In addition, it opens the possibility of answering new questions which come about.

Hi, , myself Karthik.
Some sociologist referred "twin tolerance "which has been often used to define relation between religion and politics, some believe that modernity will eventually leads to decline of religious faith and the role of religion in public / private sphere. But in our nation, these are keywords in our society.
1. The idea of religion concerns the private sphere which pertains to individual faith and beliefs, whereas politics in the public sphere pertains to the wider community eg the larger nation.
2. The intrusion of religion into politics can monopolize some specific ideologies, which in turn create a rift in society. Eg; partition of our nation.
3. If religious ideologies perpetuates deeper into our politics it may turns into mass hysteria leading to the indoctrination of people. Eg; the second world war anti Semitism of Nazis for jewis.
4. In politics it creates a voter bank in the name of religion, which diminishes the idea of secularism.
5. Intermixing religion with politics may promote favouritism in the community.
In my view, religion in politics must be like value oriented but not power-oriented, as we can learn from the legacy of ASHOKA DHAMMA and AKBAR DIN -E-IIAHI. Further in India secularism is well comprehensively defined but we need to bring it into practice. However, religion should be treated like an individual sphere and the absence of discrimination against various religion and active opposition to communalism.

I agree with the statement that politics mixes with religion. As we all know that people prefer to vote for that candidate who belongs to their community without taking interest in the things like whether the candidate have the ability to fight for their rights or not.
Without knowing his nature or behavior people used to vote for that candidate who belongs to their community. For a person which is going to vote in elections, is it enough that the particular person he vote for belongs to his community?I don't thing so.
According to me, people should vote for that person or party who is able to represent their views in parliament. And the candidate should think about each and every community without any inequality. He should only think about the development of the area under him with honesty.
In my point of view, every Indian should vote with a feeling to be Indian not. With the feeling of Hindu or Muslim. This feeling will definitely can create a big difference in between politics and religion.
Politics should be kept different from religion always. Mixing between politics and religion create a mess in the whole country. As religious morals are helpful in running politics as they show the way how to develop our country. But creating a mess in the country on the name of religion is completely unbearable. Religion should be applied on the politics but in good aspects.
Thank you.

Religion is one's belief regarding the creator of him. It defines how he sees the nature, others and himself in the society. It's the belief he/she strongly possess and nurture it in his mind and soul.
Politics is the one which allows the representatives to communicate with the people. It's the way, one can get the belief and of people. It's the way one can express himself on what he can do for the welfare of the society and the way in which he/she can understand & protect the belief of the people.
So two beliefs (one as Religion and one as politics) met each other when there is a necessity. Involving religion in politics is not always an evil. Bhakti Movement involved it for the welfare of people and it provided the base for the unity of people. During independence, Religion was one of the major factors which provoked sentiments of people and leads to the revolution. It's the combination which can provoke mass people towards good as well as poor.
According to me, Involving religion in politics is not a bad thing, but it depends on the way how it's interpreted. So, good politicians, people representative using it for the welfare of the citizens, it's always a movement of welcome.
PS: Avoiding or prohibiting or nullifying anything will not be useful for the welfare.
Thank you.

Many people advocate the thought that religion should not be mixed with politics. But is that a practical thing? Is it possible to keep religions and politics away from each other? There is no doubt that religion and politics are two most important elements in people's lives. And when they both come together arguments are bound to happen. Politics and religions should not mix as politics need to reflect a common opinion and have to make all decisions keeping in view the mutual benefit of all the people. If you simply go by the laws in India which are a secular country then definitely as per it the two things should not mix with each other. If both the elements are mixed then people will become more biased towards their own religion. Whenever politics and religions are mixed then the voting decisions of people have been affected. Politics is about power and a religion is about faith. Faith can influence power but when power influences faith it can become disaster. Faith always leads to principles and values.
So thereby I conclude that Politics is all about having a good time in present life and religion is about having faith for the future times. There are times when they both run like parallel banks of river which don't meet but always run together.

Hello, everyone. I respect and appreciate every thought mentioned above.
I believe that politics and religion should not be mixed at all by political leaders as because it intensely affects the individual identity of a person and sometimes if something bad would happen because of an individual perspective then the whole community would have been blamed which is not at all good practice as because every civilized citizen wants harmony and peace rather than prioritized by any political leader. We as an Indian wants great leaders who can provide growth and development to Indian an Indian people not the discrimination between each other. India is a resilient country we want great leaders to make India proud not to create discrepancy and hatred between the people.
I'm Akanksha Nigam proud to be an Indian who is able to celebrate not only her festivals also can be happy and share happiness while celebrating others religious festival.
We as an Indian have a great taste of so many religion and culture also we have so many things to learn because of so many religion we have in our country.
India believes "unity in diversity" and we all should respect this beautiful thought as an Indian.
Love you India.

Politics and religion are two institutions that cannot be separated. They have always worked for hand in hand since ancient Greek civilization. While implementing a state's law, it must be put into consideration that the particular law doesn't clash with the religious belief of that state. In Christian context, the state must understand the rule of the church and vice versa. Politics in its broader sense may be referred to, "affairs of the state, or, citizen" and in narrow sense, it simply may be defined as, "government". Looking at the former, it is not deniable that in every religious text a king would normally rule his kingdom on the advice of his god or a god would intervene to select a king. And when we say "government" it simply denotes a powerful head of the state. To be the head of the state a political party would use different strategy. They would make at least 30% false promises or use money power in order to grab the position. But that is applied politic which is somewhat different from real politics and it puts the dichotomy between the two. Otherwise, Religion is always part of politics.

According to my opinion Politics and religion completely different from each other. We live in country like India where people are from different religion. Religion is the identity of human being, which controls us.
And the politics is the only way which serves our nation. Through politics we developed our nation. In politics we elect different eligible leader so that they work for us to develop our nation and control the human being. So identity means religion should not be mixed with politics.
But now a days we see that politics mixed with religion. Different leaders are stand up from different religion and many of them take d religion as vote bank. During campaigning its seen that they talk various religious issues.
So that they create a egotism towards him as leader from d same caste, tribe simply as the member from the same religion, as a result they vote the particular leader without showing any eligible characters for serving our nation. For that we can't elect good, active leader for serving our nation, so my point of view is that we should not mixed up the religion with politics.

Religion is a person's identity which defines one's beliefs, ideologies and principles. Politics on the other hand consists of activities to govern a country or a region and its people. Hence, politics and religion have a connection even though they appear to be absolutely different from one another.
Politicians, being the chosen leaders, have the favorable scope of communicating with the people where they try to influence them. Politicians can use various religious beliefs and customs of a certain community to gain their support. It is through religious terms that the politicians can have the greatest impact on the minds of all people who was greatly attached to one's own religion.
Great politicians often use religion to create peace, harmony and unity among the people of a region or a country. They try to inculcate good principles and practices among the people so that the governance runs smoothly.
It only depends on the politicians how they would use religion to influence the people. Now, I would give the opportunity to other members of the group to put forward their opinions on this.
