1. Plastic bags are cheap but it is harmful to the atmosphere. Produces more pollution.
2. It is a non-renewable resource and takes 1000 years to complete degrade.
3. Polythene causes a death of animals like cow and goats because it chocks the respiratory system.

Of course, this is not the question to be asked that is it necessary to eradicate the polythene bags from the market. From quite a time the problems arising due to plastic bags have been seen. These are taking a gigantic shape day by day. Floods in the cities due to the heavy rains, stray animals choking to death due to consumption of poly bags, poisonous fumes evolving in the environment due to the burning of the bags, the soil becoming less fertile due to the dumping of these poly bags and many more health hazards which are really concerning and need to be taken care of. What alternatives do we have? yes, of course, we have many alternatives, like using paper bags, while going for shopping carrying a bag which can ultimately carry our things and much more.

Hi Friends,

In my point of view, polythene bags are not be degraded easily. It takes more years to degrade a plastics. So we cannot save a rain water. Because we putting a plastics in the land, it can resist the water on it. So it cannot increases the ground water level, it leads to insufficient of drinking water.

According to me, polythene must be banned because it causes unnecessary tension. Polythene bags are non-bio degradable, so they cannot be reused. Polythene bags are used and thrown in the dustbin and it is swallowed by the animals, which cause a health issue for them. Animals are also important species in the earth. So we have to protect the animals. Instead of polythene bags, we can use paper bags, which do not cause any damage to us. If polyethene bags burn, their smoke is very dangerous. So I request everyone not use polythene bags. It must be banned.

Plastic bags are a convenient way to carry our purchased goods.

When we go shopping. There is part of our modern lives, and we don't tend to think about them.

Yes, the polythene bag must be banned because polythene bags we are used in many ways the bag quality below 40 micron doesn't. Recycle. We can use nonwoven bags instead of polythene bags. The bags are available in our country. Please avoid polythene bags. Save the environment and save the nation.

Yes, polythene bags should be banned. They do serious harm to our environment. These bags takes many years to degrade and hence pollute our environment. These bags can not be burnt because they increase air pollution. Therefore, there is no way except to ban them. There is a going concern to save our environment all around the world. We should take each and every step to save our environment. Hence, polythene bags should be banned. Alternative step should be taken to overcome the ban of polythene bags. We can use paper bags in place of polythene bags.

Thank you.

Hi everyone,

Yes, polyethene bags should definitely be banned. It is causing a huge threat to the environment and the animals present in our environment. Plastics are nonbiodegradable and it takes 1000 years to decompose. It reases a large amount of toxic gases if burnt. It might lead to the death of various animals like cows and goats, when they chew them it chokes their respiratory system. It even makes the soil infertile by killing essential microorganisms thus disturbing the food chains. Instead of polyetehe bags, I believe paper bags or jute bags or other bio degradable bags can be used. Thank you.

Plastic bags pollute our land and water. Because they are so lightweight, plastic bags can travel long distances by wind and water. They litter our landscapes, get caught in fences and trees, float around in waterways, and can eventually make their way into the worlds oceans.

Plastic bags are made from non-renewable resources and contribute to climate change. The majority of plastic bags are made of polypropylene, a material that is made from petroleum and natural gas. Both of these materials are non-renewable fossil fuel-based resources and through their extraction and production, they create greenhouse gases, which contribute to global climate change.

The production of these bags is also very energy intensive. To produce nine plastic bags, it takes the equivalent energy to drive a car one kilometer (more than 0. 5 miles).

Using these non-renewable resources to make plastic bags is very short-sighted, considering that the typical useful life of each plastic bag is about 12 minutes.

Plastic bags never break down. Petroleum-based plastic bags do not truly degrade. What does occur is that when out in the environment, the plastic breaks up into tiny little pieces that end up in the ocean to be consumed by wildlife. Today, there are an estimated 46, 000-1, 000, 000 plastic fragments floating within every square mile of our worlds oceans.

Plastic bags are harmful to wildlife and marine life. Plastic bags and their associated plastic pieces are often mistaken for food by animals, birds, and marine life like fish and sea turtles. The consumed plastic then congests the digestive tracts of these animals and can lead to health issues such as infections and even death by suffocation. Animals can also easily become entangled in this plastic.

Plastic bags are harmful to human health. Plastic fragments in the ocean such as those from plastic bags can absorb pollutants like PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyl) and PAHs (Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) , which are known to be hormone-disrupting chemicals. When marine organisms consume plastics in our oceans, these chemicals can make their way through the ocean\'s food web and then into humans who eat fish and other marine organisms.

Plastic bags are costly to pay for and to clean up after. While we may not pay for plastic bags directly when we go shopping, they are anything but "free" Plastic bags cost about 3-5 cents each, and that cost is then incorporated into prices of the items sold at stores. The cost of plastic bag cleanup is about 17 cents per bag, and on average, taxpayers end up paying about $88 per year just on plastic bag waste. So that "free" plastic bag isnt so free after all.

Plastic bags are not easy to recycle. As plastic bags tend to get caught in recycling machinery, most recycling facilities do not have the capacity to recycle plastic bags and therefore do not accept them. As a result, the actual recycling rate for plastic bags is about 5%.

Plastic bags have external costs. Beyond the costs associated with the production and purchasing of plastic bags by retailers, there are many external costs that are often not considered. These costs include the true environmental costs of resource extraction and depletion, quality of life loss, economic loss from littering, and wildlife loss. Sadly, such costs are typically not included in most economic analyses, but nonetheless, these negative impacts are very real.

There are better alternatives available, and jobs to go with them! Once a person gets into the habit of bringing reusable bags when shopping, it is not much of an inconvenience at all. Reusable shopping bags are very durable and can be reused many times over the course of their useful life. The manufacturing of reusable bags is also another opportunity to create sustainable products and the jobs that go with them.

Other governments are banning plastic bags, so yours should too or at least make people pay for them. To date, more than 40 countries and municipalities around the world have instituted plastic bag bans. The United Nations Environmental Programme Secretariat has recommended a ban on all plastic bags globally.

Yes, there is an urgent need to ban polythene bags because they are destroying the environment more than anything. People are using polystyrene bags widely not only for carrying purpose but also for dumping waste.

Firstly, a polythene bag takes thousands of years to decompose fully into earth. Due to this piles of waste will be formed on earth. Also poor animals are the major victims of polyethene bags. Without knowing the harmful effects of plastic, they are taking in plastic bags with food which is very dangerous to the health of animals. Polyethene is harmful to mankind as well because food packed in polyethene bags may cause cancer. Government should choose an alternative to polyethene industries to set up an another industry.
