Polythene bags should be banned. There are many impacts of using plastic bags. It takes many decades to degrade. We cannot ban it completely as many people are working in plastic industries and it is cheaper than others, but we can reduce the consumption of plastics. It is necessary for our daily life but we can reduce it.

Polythene bags must be banned cause they don't decay leading to soil infertility and also they have to be burned and burning is also not good for soil as well as human health is concerned.

Yes, polythene bags must be banned for a better environment. In a recent article in The Hindu, it was mentioned about how polythene bags cause death in cattle. Cattle roaming in street munch food wastes wrapped in polythene bags, for getting a piece of cabbage leaves they usually digest these polythene cover and causes indigestion, decrease in milk production, later to the death of cows. Polythene bags are non-biodegradable which lives in the soil for many years and causes the destruction of soil inhabitants. The list of harmful effects is long enough to get it banned.

Yes, polythene bags should be banned. But in place of it may be paper bags, biodegradable polythene or something else if at a cheap rate easily available in the market surely people will stop using polythene. Otherwise, since they have not found something in place of polythene, all the rules and ban will go in vain. Some scientific research or product we need to replace polythene.

Hi, everyone.

I hope for polyethylene bags must be banned.

But it should not be a sudden decision by the government because it will affect the polyethene industries and results in unemployment of some people.

So we have to give a proper time for the industries and then after have to take serious action.

Sudden changes don't do anything.

In my opinion, polyethene bags should be banned as it is a hazard to the environment. Effects on the environment are enumerated:

1. Non-biodegradable.
2. Manufacture causes pollution.
3. Recycling of polyethene involves more cost. i.e loss to an organization involved in recycling.
4. Consumed by stray animals nearby society, causing dangerous disease like cancer (mostly cow's, dogs who are not owned by people are the victims).

Hi everyone.

Yes, polythene bags must be banned. It creates pollution as polythene is not bio-degradable. Polythene is affecting climate it creates soil, air water pollution. Banning polythene bags will be a small step to cure the problem of pollution. If we want our future generation to be healthy we have to take this step. Instead of using plastics bags we should use reusable bags.

Good evening everyone.

Polythene must be banned because polythene cannot decompose. It effect the fertilization of soil. To remove polythene some uneducated people burn it but it exert so many dangerous gases like carbon dioxide, sulphurdioxide etc which lead to air pollution. The government should take series steps to control the use of polythene so that fertisation of soil increased and to control air pollution.

Thank you.

A single plastic bag takes 1000 of years to decompose and analysing by the amount of plastic bags being used in the markets today we can imagine heaps of plastic bags getting deposited in the landfills on the outskirts of the city and thereby contributing more and more to land pollution. Plastic bags which escape garbage collection process end up in streams which even can lead them to see where they pose a greater risk to the life of marine animals. Leatherback sea turtles mistake these polythene bags for jellyfish and consume them which leads to their death by suffocation. Plastic bags are not even easy to be recycled into some new material because of the nature of the plastic used in its manufacture. Also, it gets stuck in the machinery of the recycling plants thereby causing the whole recycling plant to be stopped. Polythene bags' durability and non-porous nature make it the most convenient carry bag in the markets today, but the disadvantages are more as compared to this single advantage. So plastic bags should be replaced with bags made up of environment-friendly material, for ex-paper bags.
