I don't think culture decays, it actually improvises and I think our culture is in no way better than others except for the zero. Oh! come on guys many people in this world gave science their contributions but that doesn't judge their culture. Here culture actually refers to traditions and customs followed by us. In America, the divorce rate is 40% and in India, it is 1% but, it doesn't mean that married people in India are happy, they (mostly women) adjust for their children and also they are afraid of society. We have dowry system, even now in many rural places child marriages are happening. Coming to our ancient India, we forget that there is even Sati. Even after independence 40 cases were discovered on Sati, god knows how many were not known to the jurisdiction. Arranged marriages where mama and papa see the girl and approve her as if she is a broomstick checked if its incorrect condition before using it. Then the boy marries her mostly without even knowing her likes and dislikes, opinions. So, finally I just want to repeat what Dalai Lama said. Open your arms free, get ready to change with the world but do not Let go your values. Most of us believe that today our culture is decaying but who set the culture, we the human beings right?

Hello,
Firstly I would like to say that modernization to Indian culture has both positive and negative traits, but more of negative than positive.
1. In past, women were given at most respect mainly because of the way they dress and the way they would tolerate all the hurdles in family and keep the surrounding in harmony.
But now it has changed at an alarming rate. The length of cloth used by women and girls has decreased which is one of the reasons for which they are prone to rapes.
2. More over divorce cases are increasing only because women are slowly losing their patience and tolerance level to balance their family.
3. One of the biggest drawback of modernization is the rapid emerging of media which is becoming at most bane than being boon.
4. Earlier marriages were carried out for about 15 days with all rituals that would make all members of family gather at one place and have lot of happiness all over.
Marriage would be remembered as the greatest occasion their lives but now register marriage is the trend which ends in few minutes with just signatures.
So these marriages would not be cherished in long run. These are just few aspects of it still are many instances that clearly states how our culture is adversely affected.

No, I don't think so. Culture is something that must and will change with generations. Just because it changes doesn't mean its decaying. You see people do things that bring comfort and increases their well-being. Back in those days, people used to wear this and sarees. But in today's generation is wearing jeans and skirts. It is because they are more comfortable to work with, takes less time to wear, easier to maintain and also have the ability to hold stuff (pockets). Now do this and sarees are worn in functions as they are more elegant.
The argument that "children don't respect their parents nowadays, they watch tv whole day" are from a point of view when they (parents) were kids. I am pretty sure that they have also got such comments from their parents (this is called juvenile). Yes, it is true that we are becoming more nuclear families, but it is because we have enough resources to live independent.
If you see countries like Japan they are more cultured and orthodox than us but have embraced western technology and fashion more than us (in fact they pioneered in technology).
So what I say is embrace what is good and leave what is bad. Develop our culture guys and girls :).

Hi everyone,
To start with, I wonder how many of us actually spent time understanding the depth of our culture, to even judge if its even decaying or not.
Yes, we do have the freedom to choose and adapt to what is suitable for us, but don't you think we deserve to know the reason or in other words, the science behind every tradition and culture, as we term it?
Each place or state or district in our nation has its own beautiful tradition. Least do we realise the science and benefits of it? Every tradition and culture is designed on the bases of the land, climate/season, crops grown etc. But for the people to strongly believe it. They created stories so we connect to these traditions religiously.
As the youth of current times, we are not told the reasons why or the science behind every ritual or tradition, therefore, we question on why to follow them and refuse to follow them too!
I strongly believe we need to be understood about our land and cultures in more depth so we wholeheartedly choose to follow it than being imposed to follow it.
We are blessed with the most beautiful nation. Let us all together preserve its beauty with a genuine heart.
Thank you.

Hello Everyone,
Today of our topic for the discussion is Our Culture is Decaying.
Let's first talk about what culture really means. It means perspective, practices, and products. The perspective of the people, practices in which they are involved, and products mean what we make and take.
Our culture is decaying not just because people in our country are more attracted to Western culture, but because of a lack of knowledge and guidance. We feel happier after accepting other cultures. And I feel that it's just a matter of time before we forget the value of our scriptures, the value of our cultural activities, our traditions, and our values as well. And if we don't take any immediate steps for it, I am afraid to tell you that we might lose our real culture and will be replaced by someone else's values and culture.
Therefore, I strongly believe that this time we need to come together to figure out how we are going to deal with this and what possible course of action we can take to handle this situation.
Now I have given the overview of the topic, feel free to share your perspective and make the meeting a successful discussion.

Hi, friends.
According to me, our culture is decaying. In our day to day life, we see people saying that western culture is so "advanced". We also see people saying that we must always follow the western culture but according to me do we ever see those people follow it themselves? I think not. Whenever I go out of my house the one thing I always notice in the streets is the amount of garbage which is spread on the streets. Now this is not an example of westernization. It is true that western people are much more concerned about cleanliness. There is no harm in following the culture of other nations but if we want to follow it we must do it sincerely. Our forefathers were not like us. They always maintained the cleanliness because of their clear minds or some or the other superstitions. Nowadays the people of our nation have become more rich, more powerful, and more blind to all the moral values. Therefore they do what they want to do and follow their own minds without thinking about the consequences. Therefore I conclude that our culture is decaying and it will certainly decay if we don't take the appropriate measures to stop it.

"Western culture is invading our culture"?
The difference:
"Tradition" is what we have been following historically like arrange marriages, festival, spiritual etc.
"Culture" is what we have cultivated like disrespecting - one another, women, children.
"Modernization" is a evolution from stone age to today, its related to science and technology and from western we are gaining freedom of thoughts, asking questions else god men would force us behind blind believes.
Now what is our culture? Don't we corrupt every where? Don't you believe? Witness these following: Hijacking the Que, Quarreling in traffic, can't say no, throwing the garbage every where, Indian standard time, making fun of others, paying bribe, reservation, recommendation, the poor is suppressed and many more.
Is Suppressing young employees is our work culture?, these killer sentences at Indian work place:
1. Do what I say!
2. I will send you home.
3. This will never work.
4. What experience you have?
5. Who the hell is going to pay for this?
And many more. The tradition is our pride no one can take over but we need cultural correction to keep our tradition.

I strongly believe that adopting western culture is not a sin, in fact, I must say that it is respecting other countries culture along with your own. A girl wearing jeans or shorts doesn't mean that she has forgotten her so called sanskar. If I m not wrong then I must say men must wear kurta pyjama where ever they go if they are so much into their culture, in fact, they should stop wearing coats and wear traditional dhoti Punjabi and roam in the streets. Our Indian culture is beautiful and is respected by all of us wearing a western cloth is all up to the people's choice. And ya we think that parents feel proud that their children are adopting the western culture and forgetting the Indian culture I will say no to it they are happy that their children are balancing both cultures. I live in QATAR near DUBAI I will say that all Indian students here are very much proud of their identity and follow their customs in fact whenever we meet our elders we make sure we greet them with NAMASTEY UNCLE NAMASTEY AUNTY and touch the feet of our gurus not only that we also pray to god regularly and celebrate all the festivals here.

Friends, culture can't decay. Our lifestyles are decaying by mixing of different cultures. Our traditional culture was designed as per our environment by experts in such a way that it protects us in many different ways. For example Indian, organic food is the best food for great health. Indian cotton clothing was the best for our Indian climate. Families used to live together. All were entrepreneurs and were together in all good and bad times. People were studying in gurukul and were taught about values on respecting elders and loving youngers. Worship the powers, protect environment etc. But now children study engineering, work in software, stay away from parents, parents suffer without children, many people suffer from lifestyle diseases, excess pesticide in food. All these are the side effects of the wrong culture in wrong place. Who has to correct this? We have to correct this, we have to protect our environment, we should do organic farming, we have to teach our children about values in life. If we fail to do so we will have to face the consequences. Friends wake up soon before everything is spoiled.

I think the humans are adopted only those stuff that they found easy to them. In 90 centuries we Indians are having many of our good cultures like that, yoga, wearing kurta, payjama, saaries, respect our elders by touch elders feet and some having bad cultures like that early age marriage, dowry system, doing pee in open, equality in society, caste system etc. Our Indian culture is like our treasure and we don't throughout by adopting western culture but now in 20 centuries we are educated people and educated people are smart they adopt only what they find right for the people and society. So we adopt some of their western cultures like maintaining good quality of life, improve in dresses, bridge the gap between two sex, eating pizza and burger etc and I don't think so that our culture is decaying. Because we try to put ourselves in better than the earlier lifestyle. But at end of the day, we humans could not adopt some good cultures like time punctuation, cleanliness, innovation, work complete before deadlines etc that is more needed in now in these days.
Thank you.
Thank you.
