Well said abv by Kapil. "Apprx 90% opts for MBA because of the great middle class Indian Dream- to achieve Fame, 10% genuinely interested to learn, to prosper & to contribute to industry". But simultaneously with MBA degree, a persons circle, interest, inner talent & background matters a lot to achieve success.

"MBA in India"?

The Truth behind it, is - Student enter in music school because they love music, student enter in Art school because they love arts, but no-buddy enter in B-School because they love Business, They entered because of the great middle class Indian Dream- to achieve Fame. The population density in India is very high, and number of MBA aspirants are big in number, So the Competition for MBA in INDIA is highly over-rated, and i am totally satisfied with the topic.

Hi all,

While talking about the topic we should firstly keep one thing in our mind that after doing graduation and even also having a decent years of work experience we might fail to properly manage any business situation or systematic organization of resources for an organization in long run. That's how MBA comes into the picture in order to fill the gap. Although there are a handful no of institutes for MBA in India and the cost for the degree is bit high but if you are in some decent college you will definately learn something which won't be taught in graduation or in working field. MBA gives you the opportunity to learn about the managerial skills, the problem solving skills, the decision making skills and many more which would be really helpful in order to shape your business. And probably that's the reason for the companies to offer higher packages for MBA graduate. It is the most diversified field which anyone from any field can opt for and it will help them to sustain in long run.

Yes I am completely agree with that statement that MBA is highly overrated in India and it has a reason too. As we see in India the unemployment is increasing rapidly and people think that by doing MBA they got the job easily. As we see that MBA's are not only from commerce stream but also from science and arts too.

So they are just following the crowd without even knowing the mean of MBA.

So yes MBA is highly overrated inn India.

I think it depends on the students that what kind of job prospects they have for their future. If they want to do the job accordingly in Indian economy and domestic management so there a bunch of prestigious colleges in our country.

But if somebody has a different job prospects and he wants to keep pace with the GLOBAL ECONOMY and work with the fastest growing culture so my recommendation is for UK and USA. These countries have a lot of esteemed university which gives you a complete GLOBAL personality that the market demands and you may design your career as CEO or CMD of any bluechip company in around the world.

All the reputed chairmans or a business tykon of our nation have got their higher education from abroad like.

1) ANIL AMBANI (MBA in Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania, USA. ).

2) ANAND MAHINDRA (MBA degree from the Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts).

3) RATAN TATA (Harvard Business School in 1975).

And the foremost person is the prime minister of India.

*) DR. MANMOHAN SINGH has also got their education from at St John's College, Cambridge, 1955 and 1957.

So again I repeat my words that it's all depend on students how do they want to design their career.

I think getting an MBA surely boosts one's career. It depends on a lot of factors like your interests, preferences and the demand in the industry. What usually people look at while doing an MBA is just the attractive package. Your aim should be to learn Management techniques. Though a heavy package does hold importance, but you must ensure that you do your legwork after you are done with your MBA and even look out for Jobs during the course.

MBA is definitely over-rated in India. India being a developing economy, with huge market potential and career opportunities booming, there is definitely high demand for MBA graduates. My personal opinion is that MBA is not for everybody. One needs to be passionate about their career and should have the required ability. MBA has become the order of life.

Yes, In India MBA is highly over-rated. In other part of the world, number of student applying for MBA is decreasing but in case of India it is decreasing. It's become a trend to do the MBA after graduation. One more reason of more applicant of MBA is the non availability of the job for graduate people. People have a believe that they will get the job after MBA. MBA is a good course but it not the only course to succeed in life.

Thank you.

MBA is a professional degree so everyone want to do MBA degree. Now the demand of MBA is increasing. Any type of stream like Art, Commerce and Science student want to do MBA in own field because everyone got the good salary package according to own calibre from good placement. So it creates the employment opportunities in more quantity. Today MBA degree is necessary for do business. Someone's aim, they want to become a good manager in a reputed organisation, so MBA is important. So the rate of MBA is highly overrated due to employment, due to popularity.
