Is Reservation in Higher Education Only Alternative for Social Equality?

The main objective of the reservation was to remove social discrimination amongst the people which was highly present in our society before the Independence so that the people who were socially and economically deprived can come forward and be the part of our society.

When this was implemented Reservation was really needed at that time for 'Dalit' people. Now the scenario has been changed there are so many general people who they don't have much money to get their proper education and they are not economically rich, and there are several people who belong to SC/ST category are financially rich and have high Lifestyle and still they are getting the benefits of reservation, so for them which kind of reservation is needed and why not the general people who are victims of poverty, reservation is needed for them.

But still reservation should not be completed vanished, because casteism is still present in villages of India and a major part of SC/ST categories are still not strong economically and they have to be humiliated. So if the reservation will not be provided to them, they can never come forward in our society and will have to face social discrimination.

The people who should have got the benefits of this reservation didn't get. Only a specific community of this categories are misusing it. So, there is a need of modifications of this reservation system and should start the elimination from SC/ST people who has already taken the benefits of it and have become economically rich and should be declared creamy layer, so that who really need of reservation can get it.

Reservation in the education system is a very wrong thing because of reservation merit students lose their opportunities.

If the government want each student will learn with equality then the government should ban on the reservation.

Instead of giving reservation on the cast basis give the reservation on the current economic scale of family.

Who is really poor give the concessions in fees not in the percentage or in quota?

Yes, reservation in the education system is very bad due to reservation, merit students lost their jobs.

Yes, reservation is the main thing for India's backward.

Because of reservation, the merit student lost their jobs. And they go out of India for a job so India is losing talented peoples.

Because of Indian talented people, other countries are developed and India is in backwards than those countries.

No, it is not the only alternative for social equality. Because of this, alternative many deserving candidates do not get admission and have to compromise. So, there is a kind of trade off. Instead of making reservations, there fees should be subsidized depending upon income of the family. This will help in taking admission easily. But the opportunities for all should be same and same admission criteria must be followed.

There are still many villages where the condition of backwards classes is still dreadful. Even, some of the people of this community still cannot get the benefits of reservation because of the ultimate poverty. It is true that good financial backwards classes people use the benefits of reservation, but still if you the see the overall scenario of community, they are still not on the merge to be said developed as the higher caste are.

So, it doesn't matter whether rich backward people use the reservation, poor backward still unable to use the benefits of reservation.

There is improvement over the years in the condition of backwards, but there is still a need for the continuation of reservation system for the betterment, to get that economic status equivalent to the upper classes.

I think the reservation should be banned. But the government should implement some policies to bring out the talents in the society which is facing severe economic atrocities.

Reservation was introduced by Dr. BR. Ambedkar to provide equal opportunities for receiving education to those who were denied the right to get the high education due to their cast. Before independence society was divided into castes and a certain section of the society was for doing only menial jobs. They had been denied equal rights for many years. To give them equal rights Ambedkar introduced the concept of reservation.

I think in the present context reservation should be given on the basis of financial condition and the talent rather than on the basis of caste. Because today people from backward classes having good financial condition enjoy the advantage of reservation. They do not relinquish the rights provided to them due to the reservation. That is why students from upper castes with the weak financial condition suffer and they have to work way harder than other castes to get the admission in educational institutions or to get the jobs in government sector.

Checking on the basis of family background it's difficult. I feel that if SC or ST want to succeed they must try their level best.

So, I think reservation in higher education it is used for social equality.

I think reservation should not be in the education system. Because due to the reservation seat some good student may not get good universities.

Instead of seat reservation, they can provide a scholarship to the student according to the family annual income.
