When people are kept backward by their caste, only way to uplift them is by caste only. There is no poor or rich thing in that. Large part of India is still following untouchability. Separate societies are there for low caste people. In Tamil Nadu many villages low caste people are not allowed to wear chapels. They have to drink tea in separate glass and wash their own glass even after paying for that at shop. This is the reason reservation is caste based. Regarding quality of doctor and engineer. Be clear that they only get admission by reservation. To pass Eng or medical exam they have to get same marks as general category.

According to me, reservations are necessary for the people with financial problems because of which there can be upliftment in those sections of society. There are advantages and disadvantages of reservations. People make fake certificates which is wrong and we can see with students who are having reservations they take career too lightly and take undue advantage of it. One has to work hard to come you in life and not rely on reservations.

Hai friends.

I agree with all but in my view the reservation is not need for casts. It is need for poor students. For example I have 2 friends one is reservation candidate other one has no reservation. In the EMCET exam reservation student get 21 marks and non reservation student get 39 marks. Reservation student is selected but non reservation is not selected. But both the students are come under below middle class families.

So in my point of view education depend upon talent not on reservation.

Hello everyone,

I support reservation because in INDIA more than half of the population still believe in casteism. "Right to Equality" is just in papers not in real practical life. People still discriminate on basis of caste. They treat lower caste people as they are nothing.

The quality of life of some SC/ST has improved just because of reservation. Imagine Upper caste people sitting in higher position, do you really think they will ever give opportunity to lower class people.

In India people still say they are proud to be Rajput, Brahmin etc etc. They have NOT done anything to achieve this, they have randomly landed in a very random family with some random caste. It's good to think that you aren't inferior to others but having a superiority complex on the basis of your "religion" or "caste" also makes you a big racist.

Hello everyone as per the topic reservation should be removed from the education system because there are many talented students who are not able to fulfill their dream of studying where hey want to just because of reservation and these can be from upper class as well as from middle class.

Each and every student should be judge from his/her knowledge what he/she is from inside, because now a days we all students are being judged by there numbers and knowledge. So reservation should be removed from the education system.

Thank You.

Hi friends.

In my opinion reservation should not be given in higher studies, because at the time of independence reservation was given a slot in the constitution by Dr.B.R. Ambedkar to eradicate the differences and ensuring equal status to the backward caste. The provision of reservation was made only for ten years but later on it was politicized for vote banks by politicians.

But as in current scenario almost differences has been rooted out form our society and people of backward caste has also got opportunity in almost all sectors. So I think instead of giving reservation for higher studies primary and secondary education in government school should be modernized. Eg. E-teaching, recruiting teachers with proper training prior to joining schools.

Reservation is a myth specially for OBC they the minorities get nothing except for misconceptions regarding benefits which the ruling majority imparts with full intended purpose to win the election and other general class people think that they draw immense benefit. OBC enjoy only relaxation in age apart from that all benefits are for SC/St candidates.

In my view maintenance of social equality depends on people's thinking and cannot be attained by reservation.

Specially in case of education and jobs, I am unable to understand why seats are reserved!the main purpose of an exam is to identify the better and more hardworking ones and for a healthy country it is necessary that EVERYONE SHOULD BE EQUAL BEFORE EXAMINATIONS.

Every candidate who is sitting in an exam should be treated the same; giving them preference to others is unfair for all those students who secure the same marks as them but are rejected. Every student has a same identity, they cannot be selected on the basis of their caste. They need to be selected on the basis of their ability, not their family background.

Do you think giving extra facilities to backward castes can ever contribute towards our nation's progress? Instead the backward castes in this way would grow negligent towards education as they know there are special seats reserved for them!

How many backward caste students are sitting in an exam does not show their percentage population. There reservation of seats for them specially for education is meaningless.

Moreover reservation can never contribute to social equality- in fact it will enlighten the rebellious spirit between upper castes and lower castes. The tag of "INEQUALITY " will get stamped on their minds and one day will surely lead to a disastrous conclusion.

Instead, for establishing social equality we need to have respect towards everyone. Such preferential steps proclaim "social inequality, not equality".

Suppose in an exam the cutoff for general candidate is 400/600 and for backward castes is 150-200. Now the student from general category who secured 300 will be rejected but the other category student who secured 180 or 220 is welcome.

But now a question arises "Were the answer sheets of general and backward castes checked in different ways?" NO. Then why such unfair distribution of seats? And, who is more able-One who obtained 300 or one who obtained 180 or 120?

Exam is a platform to identify one's capability. Everyone should be enthusiastic to succeed with his own efforts, not with external assistance.

People say that very few SC/ST have become the prime minister of India till now?but the one who is selected as the prime minister is not checked on the basis of his family background, but tested on the basis of his ability to handle the nation effectively.

Therefore I feel that if SC and ST want to succeed, they must try their level best just like the general students do and should not be dependent on reservation.
