Extracurricular activities should be made compulsory in school. In modern time, competition is very tough & normally, schools operate 7-9 hours a day. In such time, if the child will not come in contact with extracurricular activities then he/she will become a part of monotonous and stressful life. Although, extracurricular activities make our body fit and healthy. And healthy mind resides in the healthy body. Students who take part in extracurricular activities, perform very well in studies.

Yes, Extra curricular activities should be made compulsory in school but there are some things to consider before applying these extra activities during school timing. I mean extra curricular activities mean some extra work to do for students and we all know that how much students feel tired after attaining all the classes as per fixed timetable. We can understand that doing some extra activities offer better way to learn but it does not mean that management put more and more burden on the backs.

Finally, I would like to add that extra curricular activities should be made compulsory in school but saving energy of the students so that they can also complete their home work on time.

I don't understand why is 'mandatory' a wrong word used for extracurricular activities in school? You yourself ask to treat academics and extracurricular activities as equal, so if academics is 'MANDATORY' then academics too should be considered as mandatory.

If academics and extra curricular activities are treated equally or given equal importance then personally I too feel that extra curricular activities should be mandatory.

In my point of view, yes extra curricular activities should be made compulsory in school and also compulsory the practical knowledge to improve education and country.

Extracurricular activities should be compulsory not only in school but also in every department because extra things or activities create a interest inside you and provide you an entertainment. Some weakness es also overcome by extra curricularities. For example if a person habit is introvert, he cann't interact with new people. Some times interaction with new people is very necessary and in that case that person will be failed. If he participate in extracurricularities then he has to interact with new people. So for this extracurricularities are very important in every stage of life.
