In my opinion, we really need smart cities because the main aim of this is to provide housing for all. By 2050 70% people will be living in cities. It can provide good infrastructure, water and sanitation facilities, 24*7 electricity supply etc. It would provide smart solutions such as data public data and treatment of water waste. It will enhance the developmental activities of the region. India is expanding rapidly so the emergence of smart cities can provide employment for many.

Hi guys,
Yes, we do need smart city and for why "we always look into very generic problem like unemployment, poverty, education system, but after knowing particular field can we able to point out things that are going wrong".
Now from why our question is converted into how? "how can we find the problem (corruption, unemployment poverty, education system) in most optimistic way" so for that we have use digitalization in each every field and IOT can be huge help on this. Now we have data as evidence to justified the facts bring a solution for problem.
So, yes, we do really need smart city.

Smart means to develop yourself.
We can not develop on the basis of resource like transportation buildings etc.
First, we have to be smart ourself.

We need to understand the essence of Smart and the logic can be derived from the same if we need the smart city or not. Smart city means an alert city on various social, economical and developmental of the overall area. To make our surrounding clean free from pollution various measures can be taken to make the city smart like developing green, similarly a society free from malpractices like theft and other social problem there could be a machinery which can control such activities by creating smooth law enforcement like camera installation at various location, this not only create check on unsocial activity but also helps the law machinery to work smartly by reducing the unnecessary efforts. The similar effort of developing public transport for smooth transportation and easy access and planned move, when you know you can reach your destination in 30 min and that you need to plan to make your move 2-3 hrs before thus utilising time for other work and when we say smart city means all the planning related to smoothing this as well, A proper schools, hospitals these are again one of the necessary parts of the smart city. So when we look broadly the intrinsic features of Smart city we can for sure will say yes to Smart city, then the question of its implementation becomes then important which of course need a proper social education, timely training camp, and awareness programmes so that all can contribute to the same.

As we all know, many people are migrating from rural to urban areas and this number is seemingly increasing and it doesn't limit to India but also applicable to global context. So the need of the hour for cities is to get smarter to handle the upcoming issues related to large-scale urbanisation. Hence, Smart Cities Mission, urban renewal and retrofitting initiative started by Government of India.
Fareen: With the implementation of smart cities programme, Make in India initiative will also boom when the projects like DMIC, CBIC and AKIC comes into real picture which will contribute a lot to the infrastructural and economic growth of smart cities which are located nearby them.
Balu: During recent visit of Bruce Andrews to India, US Deputy Secretary of Commerce, he focused on India's need to address the barriers of doing business which have become roadblocks for extended trade between both countries. According to that trade mission, an agreement has been concluded in the presence of AP's Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu by Leocadia Zak director of US Trade and Development Agency, in regard to extending support to India's objective of developing smart cities.

Smart cities really will be effective if we have a corruption free country. So when the extent of corruption ends thus there begins an era of smart city revolution by using existing technologies.

Hello, everyone.
In today's world, we really need smart cities. A city can be considered "smart" if the investments are made in that particular city in various sectors like infrastructure, industries by the participatory govt.
The status of smart city - reduces public spending, increases efficiency and quality of services, promotes innovation, instant information, e-governance, education and health care, energy efficiencies.
So, who will prefer to loose such facilities? we also don't prefer to loose such facilities. Hence we really need smart cities.
Thank you.

I think smart city project is the very good project. Because it is very important for every country. Smart city does not mean that in your city have a good road, good transport system. I think smart city means that city person have a good education. Education is a basic need if you want to become our country smart. I think if city people is not smart And not well educated, and also not follow the rule, untile we can not Become a smart city. And with education, employment is also important. If in city, every person has an employment than Noone Will not think about Of crime. And also if you want to become a smart city fast up all, every citizen will have to change our think, and I think we should understand the value of citizenship. And we should not throw the garbage on road, and also should not split on a rode. And if you want a smart city, firstly we will have to change ourself and We can also say that we have to became a smart citizen.

Hi,
As the topic says 'Smart Cities', there is already one thing developed in the country, that is 'Cities'. But why not the government think smartly and concentrate on developing the other part of the nation that is 70% of Indian population where people are still lacking basic amenities such as food, cloth, and shelter. Hence in my point of view, investing the capital for making smart cities does not improve in any way, rather it improves only the already improved areas.
