Hello Friends,

Yes, I also agree with you all that one can contribute to the social sector while being employed in the Corporate World. The main thing is that there should be a thought regarding the contribution to the social sector. If one is not even thinking to contribute, then how can he or she contribute? But if one is thinking to do then yes there are a lot of opportunities to do so. In India, one employed person can do his or her job for minimum 8 hours daily. He or she still has 16 hours to do any social sector job such as to contribute to any poor society or any backwards community for uplifting their lifestyle. I can give myself as an example.

Now I am studying in Engineering college. There are classes, labs, assignments, tests and many more things to do in my college as a student. But on the other hand, I ma connected to an NGO ANKURIT started by our branch seniors. Under this, we have to go to a deaf and dumb Government school. We interact with those children. Occasionally we use to organise any drawing sort of competition among them so that there will be a competition for growing rapidly. I am doing this for 2 years and I can also manage to maintain my semester aggregate 8 CGPA.

So, Yes! one can contribute to the social sector while being employed in the Corporate World.

Thank You.

Yes, I do agree that one can really contribute to social sector inspite of being employed in corporate sector. There are many ways to contribute to seciety i.e. Donation, running some awareness probramme for society and teaching poor students for free or very less fee etc.

There are many corporate organizations like TATA, GENPACT etc. Which are allied with some NGOs and wellfare societies and donate money and clothes etc. These companies also organise some charity programmes like organizing some fession shows, singing & Dancing events which help in collecting money and then the collected money is donated to NGOs, Hospitals or schools & colleges in terms of scholerships to the poor students that is in way a contribution to the society/country.

At personal level an indivisual can take out some time and disseminate his/her knowledge around that he/she get there from the corporate world. That can really help the people in getting a right path and building a good career. Teaching poor children/students who can not go to good schools/colleges, will be great contribution. So its our moral duty that we contribute to social section as much as we could in all the manners.

Yes by being in the corporate world its possible to contribute to the social sector. As it's our moral responsibility to contribute to the society. Individually it can be bit tougher but norms or measures undertaken by the top management people of the company can be followed which is in the direction of goodwill of the society.

As there are no. Of companies which are company in front with measures which are for the society. For example- p&g donate rs. 1 on every purchase of its product for the education of the poor people. Similarly there are TATA which believe in ethics a lot which again in favor of the society. The body shop realize the importance of nature in our lives and they urge to protect the environment for our future generations. Likewise there are number of companys which are performing such kind of activities.

These kind of acts create an good image of the company in front of the customers. So this will have great impact in front of customers and customers will also get emotionally attached with the company.

Hello, everyone.

I'm Rahul Kumar.

Before putting my own view I would like to state a quote. It is 'We can be a millionaire if find out the need of the society and working on it rather than working for money'.

By this statement, I would like to state that many people have emerged as a better corporate leader just because they have found out the real scarcity of the society and then worked on them. If we talk of Amazon, Google or Apple, where they have come from? Actually, they have realised the real need of the society.

If we talk of one of the famous TV shows, SATYMEV JAYATE; What actually they are doing? They are actually depicting social issues and thereby earning huge amount of money. So here Amir khan is being employed in the corporate world as well as contributing to the social sector.

Hence, I can say that we can not be a better corporate leader until and unless our work contributes to the society.

Social service is what a individual contribute for the society. So if he's concerned about the society and want to do something for the society he'll definitely take out time for the same and serve the society irrespective of being in a corporate world. Considering the monetary part, for doing any social service don't mean that there should be a financial contribution for the same, cleaning your surroundings, roads and parks doesn't make you loose some money rather it gives a message of civic sense among society similarly filling a poverty stricken child's tummy even for one time doesn't make you loose your valuables.

We are living in a society where a simple middle class and single bread earner contributes each day in similar manner daily without any complain but with a higher level of satisfaction. So your work being hindrance to your social work is vague.

Dear All,

According to me, the corporate world doesn't mean, the people working in Private Organizations, Corporate companies like MNCs. It means group of people working together for their individual growth and Contribution to the Social Sector doesn't mean simply donating our money, clothes, food. To poor, orphans, old., these are a part of social service.

The individual have to understand the need of society at that point of time and should take responsibility in fulfilling the requirement. Each and every individual should have some responsibility to the society irrespective of age, gender, income. Without expecting anything in return from society. How the individuals thinks of their basic needs and fulfill them in accordance with time. Likewise they have to think about the society and should do the needful within their capability.

Being part of a corporate world we are used to things like:keep clients first, meeting deadlines, making profits, cost cutting etc and hence, it is belived that coorporate is all about profit maximization and nothing else.

But, if we look around, we will find so many examples which prove that even coorporates are invloving themselves in paying back to the socitey. ITC and p and g donates 1 re from each of their products for community welfare programmes, itc has come up with e choupals, tata is involved in providing various facilties to its employees in jamshedpur etc.

It may be argued that they just do it for their own benefit as it helps in building the trust of their customers. But, I beleive even if that be the reason, the society is getting benefited from such measures and hence, these should be encouraged.

I too agree that corporate is a field where we rarely get time for looking upon our fellow people in society. But that must not be a hindrance in helping people through social sector.

In fact they have a greater scope since they comparatively earn more and can involve in these activities comfortably in economic point of view.

Also in addition to that many corporate like IBM have separate dates in their calender purely devoted for the welfare of various social sectors mentioned for old age, physically challenged etc, so it becomes much easier for employees of such organisation.

On a concluding note I would say that we humans are put in this world for a purpose. To make our life purposeful we need to take a step towards charity despite being employed or not in a corporate.

Thank You.

Hey guys,

According to me, it is desirable that one should contribute to the social sector while being employed in the corporate world. But practically, working in a corporate environment makes a person little selfish. Generally, people work in corporate with the motive of earning profit. So at some point, they neglect the society if they get a chance to earn huge profit. If one wants and is willing, he can surely contribute to the social sector. It's just the difference in the mindset of the people. Some are all about money and money, but some people do actually care about the society they live in. So no matter they are in corporate sector or any other sector, they will try to contribute towards the society.

Yes, ofcourse I agree with Mr. Raju to some extent.

One can! In my openion participating parallel in both sectors for the long time couldn't be that much easy, as working in corporate world finds finds ourselves with no time and social work needs that, initially it feels good, but as the responsibilities increase either in any field. May push ourselves into great stress, even into depression of not doing justice to any of fields.

One can search for the minds thinking the same at work, forming a group, discussing the issues involved, sharing the responsibilities, moving collectively can only make a good contributer to society, but also makes oneself satisfied with whatever being done.
