Hi,
I think since most of the Indians belong to a middle-class family so they believe in quantity over quality!
This is true for the poor people also. For example, a poor family would prefer buying more quantity of food than that of more quality in the same price. As for the rich people in India they believe in quality and brands obviously.

Yes, I agree with all of my friend's opinions. But I would also add a few more extra points regarding about this topic. According to my point of view, we the people of India are classified into 3 categories poor, middle classes. Each categorised people think in a way according to their mindset.
* Poor might think that I should get more quantity rather than get good quality.
* Middle class thinks in both cases I should get a good quality with good quantity according to my budget I have.
* The rich might think that whatever I purchase that must be a best-branded one with a good quality and its sufficient for him even if he receive less quantity.

In my view in India, there are three type of affordable class.
One is high class, middle-class & poor class, so quality conscious depend on class, high class goes for better & good quality, middle-class look for quality & quantity & the poor class has affordability issue, so they are not quality minded.

Hello, everyone. I want to add some point that quality is the primary requirement to fill our need. In daily life every Indian focus towards quality and cost. Sometimes generally people think that if any product has good quality then it's cost might be high, it is not true in every case. Indian focus on best in lowest or maximum possible way. And it is true all around the world.

Nowadays if we see there are three categories peoples (middle class, upper middle class, rich).
Every person from every class needs quality product as it is time requirement. More than 80% of Indians are educated to know what quality product should purchase for keep long term so in future they do not purchase again and again means it will not effect on budget.
Today's market shows more competition in every product like if we look for simple soap then we can see there are multiple brands only in soap. And people goes only for a good product which will show more comfort and effective.

Yes, Indians are less quality conscious. As I am agri graduate I know what the quality food is, rich people wish to take quality food but those people only taking poor quality food because they can't eat fresh vegetables, fruits and most commonly they are going to eat stored grains with chemicals. Poor people, they wish to earn lot that's why farmers apply more and more chemicals and pesticides to increase yield and to sell the produce, he will also not eat quality food. Only a few people who are fallowing organic farming they are eating quality food.
