Are beauty contests degrading womanhood?

These topic has both the advantages with in the limits and above these it would be disadvantages.

In my point of view there are some ladies, there are showing there talents and give jobs to others, but some are just only for beauty contests wasting times and money such that they are not even helpful their husbands. So one should have beauty not only by external but also in their character.

Hie beauty are somehow to a lesser extent degrading but to a greater extent helpful. It makes a woman to feel that she has a role to play in this world. Some say beauty without brains but I think these are based on talents. Everything has disadvantages and advantages. But beauty contest creates employment for many.

In my opinion beauty contest is sort of like a game you can say in which from different nations or states girls are participating. Actually a girl gets a exposure from this very events vize in movies and acting fields and in fact they earn fame in modeling itself through this. If a normal life living girl gets a job or you can say earn a fame (talking in basic language). Its not a bad thing.

In fact they learn how to speak how to react and there mentality and way of living goes up on to next level. I know after being getting famous they get into various controversies. But that's a fault of media not there's.

But one of the common and very minute disadvantage that they start consuming beauty drugs which is harmful for them in future. But only in some cases I am talking about. So its not that beauty contest are degrading woman's hood rather it is giving chance to women to come up and show there talents.

Beauty contest is like a sport events as swimming. It is competition for overall best from every corner. It is not matter of degrading womanhood. In universe everyone wants freedom of life. If women feel confident to express themselves, it is better for society development. It is also shows that women are equal to man.

They can show there different abilities & grasp the opportunities to do acting, advertising, job, business, publicity etc. It encourages other narrow minded women; they are not merely for homemaking they can make the world by their brain & beauty. We need to change our mindset, beauty contest never degrading womanhood.

You can say yes if you think due to these contests women are becoming more self centered which is not a quality of women. If you think that they are promoting jealousy or materialism or just external beauty then also you can say yes they are degrading women.

But if you think the other way, these contests give women a chance to be admired or to be loved by all or dress up differently which I feel they like it is just a way of amusement and refreshment and a way to encourage them and not to hurt sentiments of others who are not externally that beautiful (actually external beauty is not the sole criteria of being beautiful and beauty depends upon the eyes of beholder as rightly said by someone).

So it do have negative aspects but if we search for positive in something then we can get away with negativity in it.

According to me beauty contest is not degrading the women good. This is a platform for women to prove herself. But by only considering beauty we should not judge a women. Beauty + brain + character + attitude should be the measures of beauty contest. As human is a social animal first. So empowering women should be the main motto of these beauty contest.

Somewhere by only considering beauty a women is judge. As external beauty is god gifted. We can't change it. So by considering beauty we are demoralizing women who have not external beauty. So beauty contest should be in such a way that women of our society get motivated.

I totally agree with the topic. Beauty contest not just mean to flaunt the body, it is all concerned with 'beauty with brains'. There is a round called 'Swim-suit round' in which ladies have to wear swimming costume and have to flaunt their figure. I do not agree with this thing as this does not serve the real purpose of the contest.

The actual purpose of this contest is to check the contestant's ability to speak, to think positively, to make correct decisions, to work for the development of the country and last but not the least to be an extempore speaker.

In my way beauty contests are not degrading womanhood. It is opportunity to women who are talented and interested to show their abilities. But coming to dressing we are having some limits and culture so, some rounds should be changed. Otherwise it is a great chance to show their hidden talents.

I thinks beauty contests are not degrading womanhood they are a platform for women to come forward. In country like India where people thinks that women are not cable enough to meat the necessities this things helps them to prove them wrong.

It also encourages the women to express there view and show their qualities. We can also use these kind of contests to show the culture through dressing sense to the world. Many winner of such contest are ideals of other.

Considering the Indian culture beauty contest is degrading womanhood but those only because of some activity in the contest which encourages the nudity. But with that it is also a great platform for Indian women to express her idea where the whole country and world will listen. After getting the spotlight they can promote many social agendas and some person like Susmita sen and Dia Mirza is doing.

They set examples to other women and child. In my view we can held this contest by modifying it in our way of civilization and can remove those rounds which is object-able according to our culture. We can and we should organize this beauty contest but not like the western way but in our traditional way.
