Are beauty contests degrading womanhood?

Good morning friends.

Everyone has put his points whatever you all think. I want to put my views.

According to me beauty contests are not degrading womanhood. Beauty contest is not merely an exposing contest as many of my friends think. Why can't we see the good aspects of it. I want to put some points in fact some positive points.

1. It makes women more confident before the world.

2. It give chances to woman to find their hidden qualities.

3. Its not only the physical appearance which is noticed in the woman but it tests their knowledge about various aspects, their confidence, their ability to handle situations in critical situations.

Don't these things make woman of our society self dependent and confident?Don't these things make woman of our society empowered?

Yes this is a man dominating society so just one for one single thing we can neglect all the good things related to it. My friends womanhood is not about just living in a home as a wife, doing everything according to her husband. According to me womanhood shows their ability to excel in various aspects, various situations of their life.

In the end I would like to conclude that beauty contests are not degrading the the womanhood but working in favour of womanhood. There are many games also where athletes or players have to wear such types of clothes in which their body is exposed like swimming, tennis so should we ban those games also? Everything has some bad thing related to it or maybe ever one see things in different ways which make it bad.

If anyone of you believe, that beauty contests degrade our culture, it is because the way you view and interpret these contests. These are a perfect means to provide platforms to upcoming stars for bollywood and of course TV serials. They are meant to display a talent and confidence. If you have any problem with short dresses, try not to watch a woman as just beauty or sex objects. Observe how graceful they are, how confidently they present themselves. That is the main objective of beauty contests.

Now these contests may be misused in INDIA, but considering everything its a great platform.

Taking part into a beauty contest totally depends on that girl and her family.If a girl is appearing for a beauty contest it means her family is allowing her for so.Beauty contest is not all about beauty but its all about "Beauty with Brains".I am not denying for the fact that there are other platforms where a girl can show her talents.But taking part in a beauty contest will gain her some visibility and she can choose film industry or modelling as her career path if she wants to as generally girls from beauty contests choose these path as their careers.This contest will definately give them some confidence to reach higher platforms in their respective careers. With addition to this I want to say that there are some same kind of contests for boys also.So, my question is ARE THEY RESPONSIBLE FOR MALE DEGRADATION? :).

I would like to share my views as well.

Everything has there pros and cons, so I also think if beauty contest are degrading womanhood then obviously it is increasing her values as well. We should not think only negative things even we should encourage the positive things.

What are the things which is really good and we should encourage to woman to do that?

1. Beauty contest are providing jobs to woman, it is providing a platform to woman to make her own identity. She has that talent and confidence by which she can win the world.

2. Beauty contest are not depend only on beauty, they have certain criteria's to take the participate in beauty contest and win the competition. So obviously if she is talented only then she can take the participation in competition.

3. Beauty contest is the platform where people start to knowing about the favorite models, like:- what she likes to wear?, How she behaves with others?, What she has done so she is there? How she think? etc. So, through this thing we can explore good things like:- We can explore our culture, we can explore good habits in followers.

4. If one woman takes a good step then other world wide woman get inspired with her. And inspiration is really needful for our country development.

Yes, we should avoid few things as well:-.

1). We should not make this platform to show of body instead of this we should promote our culture.

2). Should not take it as jealousy and all, if someone is having good talent she will be famous, so we should learn from them.

3). Do not consider this thing as everything its a part of life, so should not take the beauty medicine and all.

I personally think that beauty contests are not degrading womanhood.

As, its not just about the physical beauty.

Yes, I do agree that a lot more is about how you look, but also there are rounds of what talent you have and how do you interact with the people around you.

Basically, its all about what you are!

To be very honest, I feel that its a platform where a woman actually feels the beauty of being a woman.

A lot of hope, ambition and everything that boosts up the spirits of women are involved in it. And there is nothing bad in it for me. Because its somehow taking the women up high in this world.

And for the point of SHORT dresses, its not that girls strip out in the beauty contests ! It all depends upon how you carry what you wear.

Beauty contest looks for the confidence, better body language, inner as well as physical beauty. Confidence come from knowledge and experience. Better body language helps to improve social relation. Positive attitude and thought makes you beautiful from your heart. And the last physical beauty, If you have better figure it means you are health conscious which is good for you and your family.

As we all know that beauty contest is a platform where girls and women shows her talent.

We can't say that beauty contest degrading our culture.

What is actually means of beauty contest is that beauty contest means competition in which winner candidate is beautiful from mind, body, talent, skill and how to express ownself not only physical beauty.

Its all about people mentality what they think for girls and women.

With these platform women improve her talent, way of talking, gain confidence and help to build our nation.

So, I would like to end my view on this topic and finally say that who person say the beauty contest degrading the womanhood firstly they need to change their mentality, way of see the girls.

Womanhood is a broad term. Personally, I believe that a womanhood is defined by the woman. To one, it may be a choice to make a home for herself and her family. To dedicate her life to building a home and a family and being happy in that. To another, it may be ambition, drive and the highly coveted corner office. To a third, it may be to have fun, and drink and party and just let go. Neither of these women's are wrong, because although their choices are as different as chalk and cheese, there is one common thread running through them all- they all made a choice. I believe that womanhood is a woman's choice, and it is for her to decide.

It is wrong to say that Beauty pageants degrade womanhood, because the women that make the choice to participate in these pageants are empowered, and not demolished. The concept of Beauty pageants was original to give women a platform to showcase themselves and make a name for themselves. However, today the concept is changing, it is open to all kinds of women from all walks of life to come out and make a name for themselves. It focusses on holistic attributes, and not just body and beauty. The only drawback that I see with beauty pageants in today's day and age is the strict body type clauses. We live in an age that promotes a healthy body type, which should mean that the quintessential tall-leggy-skinny model image should be removed and yield its place to mind over matter. The concept of beauty pageants has evolved to the extent to there being men's beauty pageants as well. My take away here would be that what one chooses to partake in, is his or her own vocation. As long as they are not infringing on someone else's beliefs and rights, and/or hurting themselves there is no problem. If a woman chooses to participate in a beauty pageant, whatever her reasons, she should be able to, because no one stops a man from becoming a househusband. At the end, it all boils down to choice- and whatever the choice is, no one has a right to question it.

I would like to express my views on a beauty contest.

According to me, beauty contest means competition in which winner candidate is beautiful from mind, body, talent, skill and how to express ownself.

Everything has +ve and -ve aspect. Like as everything beauty contest has positive and negative aspects.

First of all, I want to express my views on positive expectations. Beauty contest encourages women and gives confidence to women. From beauty contest, they think they can do something in her life like as beauty contest winner.

And it is a way to make her career in modelling, TV serial, film also.

Now I want to express my views on the negative aspect. The beauty contest is only for those people who have leisure time.

It's not for a busy and career-making person.

For this contest, Indian girls accept western culture and leave Indian culture and perform in short dresses.

Beauty is naturally processing it's not for publically shown and forget her own culture.

Don't Degrade Beauty.

In my views beauty is degrading women. Only a small group of individuals who think of themselves as "fashion freaks" can't judge a woman on the basis of her physical appearance or sexy body or sleek looks. In my views beauty comes from within and is reflected by our deeds and actions.
