My counter argument for everybody saying that Advertisement is not a waste because of people being informed about products.

Firstly, advertisement only benefits those who are being paid. The business. Never the consumer.

You are only being encouraged to purchase items you think you 'need, want or desire' - marketers study how to fulfil those needs, sometimes even how to create those desires subliminally.

Quite frankly, it is stupid to believe you ever really need something, unless its a physiological / safety need such as food, water, warmth, and rest.

Anything that doesn't fall under that list is quite clearly a need of belongingness, esteem or self-actualisation. The products and brands you buy into simply build your 'identity' you are trying to build.

Capitalism means consumerism and the marketing industry simply manipulates you to consume more and more.

Hi everyone.

Advertising is definitely not wastage of resources. A companies sales increases and it holds a considerable market share because of its goodwill. But creating that goodwill might take the time or might never happen if advertising doesn't play its role. Advertising has its own advantages. It creates awareness among consumers about products, take Patanjali for example, it not only promotes its products but makes consumers aware of various other harmful products. Also, through advertising consumers come to know about the product and they can know more about the products. It increases quality consciousness amongst consumers. Adds to the profits of the company. There are many more advantages attached to it ad it definitely can't be said that advertisements are a wastage of money. Rater it is the most optimum utilisation of resources. Thank You.

Hi,

In my opinion advertisement has some advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages are: we can get to know about the product.

The uses of the product, its benefits etc. And also the importance is also known to us.

We can get to know about different brands like coming to dresses, shirts, latest trends etc.

Disadvantages: we get attracted to what is shown and think to buy it.

We do not decide what is the use of it.

We cannot know about the quality of the products shown.

We buy many beauty products shown in the ads like creams, cosmetics etc without knowing the value and benefits of it and suffer due to it.

Therefore, it is our responsibility ie consumer to choose a product carefully before buying it so that it can reduce the harmful effects and also loss to the consumers due to it. And also they get to know about the quality of the product.

Hi friends, I am Deepika Singhal and I would like to put up my point in the above discussion that advertisements are not always bad for the society and are not just a wastage of money which many of you think it is.

As we all know people are being fascinated by these advertisements and they get attracted towards all the schemes and discounts which a company or a manufacturer provides to attract the customers which are not at all a bad thing to sell or tell about the companies products.

As we all know demand and supply go hand in hand with the customers and nowadays since there is a lot of competition in the market so the customer is the king for the products and products are even designed considering them only. So if companies are advertising for the benefit of customers and keeping in mind about their profit than what's bad in that?

The advertisement is and isn't a waste of resources.

A huge waste of resources is the traditional methods of promotion such as leafleting and other hand-outs that use paper. As a student, my house receives menus and other leaflets daily, and never once have I used one.

If you really understand your consumer, you would understand what channels they engage with and what influences them. i.e. - Social media, using digital methods of advertisement saves a lot of paper, and can also be low cost when using Brand ambassadors to promote products such as clothing.

There isn't really much more I need to explain, save paper by not printing thousands of useless and ignored advertisements. Be smart and research how you can influence your consumer! if they are gen z/x or millenials - social media / online is 100% the best method you can utilise.

Well advertisement is a promotional technique. It is the only mode of communication between the producer and consumer. So it is not a waste resource. Every things have positive as well as negative side. If I talk about the positive sides of advertisement then.

1. It allows the producers to promote all the good things about the product.

2. It allow the consumer to know about the product. Basically it educate the consumers.

3. Advertisement can directly attract certain section of peoples like kids or teenagers etc.

4. Advertisement is the only tool to fight the battle in the competitive market. That is why all the best companies in the world like NIKE, PUMA, Apple continuously invest on advertisement.

Disadvantages.

1. It is a costly techniques.

2. Some time it mis lead peoples.

Being an MBA marketing person, I l never say advertising is a waste of resources. If there is no advertisement how people will aware about products, their benefit, price etc?

Every business firm changing their business policy to attract customers, like 20% extra scheme, buy 3 get 1 free scheme, free items for buying of any product n many more schemes. Now the question is if there is no advertisement how people will aware of it? Noy only for products, advertisement is done for health issues too. For example, Amitabh Bacchan was the brand ambassador for pulse polio campaign by saying that every child should have polio injection on such date. It is very useful for the parents who doesn't know when to go or where to go.

So by concluding, advertising can't be a waste of resources.

Advertising is as a waste of resources in my point of view, because the people who make advertising they use the audience brains and make advertising in a manner that we get used to that product they are filming.

And its a bitter truth but its fact that we the audience only pay the price of advertising on the price of the product.

The company adds all the cost of advertising they make and take all the cost from the consumer.

But we don't know the bitter truth of this industry but its a fact that we are paying for the product but as well the price of advertising we see on television.

Yes, advertising does aware of the product a company launches but the price of the product increases by its advertising.

So we intend to pay the price of the product which we actually don't.

According to me, advertising has the major impact on consumers. It is the advertisement, who make people aware of the products from different price range. Whenever any new product is launched through advertisement, people buy it at least once. Even if any discounts and offers are announced in the advertisement, consumers are ready for brand switching. Though some advertisements are a just gimmick, but people get attracted to that too. Even, social media is the major hub for advertisement and it is seen that businesses are really making profits by attracting people through such media. So, definitely, advertisement is not a waste of resources. Even, if you want to start your own business, the first thing you have to do is to advertise yourself and your product or offerings.

According to me, Advertising is not a waste of resources. If a new product enters the market, we can easily aware of it through an advertisement. Every time we cannot go the market or store and we cannot know about each and every product or brand.

Through an advertisement, we will come to know the features of a particular product sitting at home. In today's world advertisement becomes an essential part of the business.

The outcome with an advertisement is spending huge money on advertisements is insane from a consumer point of view because the firms will charge the ad expenditure from the consumer itself. Also spending a lot of amount on brand ambassadors to promote the product makes the consumer to pay a higher price.

In this way, advertising has both pros and cons.
