It is because the presence of mixture of hydrogen and sulphide and brass is a type of thing which has a color very light and mixture is non temperature (hot and cold type of temperature) so it gets discolored.

Brass is the alloy of Copper & Zinc.
Brass reacting with Hydrogen Sulphate present in the atmosphere it forms Zinc Sulphate.

Yes, H2S is the correct one because sulphide gas is poisonous and if it is combine with H it becomes poisonous acid so it makes brass discoloured.

Brass is a type of alloy which is made with Cu and Zn. H2S gas react with Cu will give CuS precipitate which is yellow colour.
