What are the number of moles of CO2 which contains 16 g of oxygen?
0.5 mole
0.2 mole
0.4 mole
0.25 mole
Answer: Option
Explanation:
One mole of CO2 has mass of 44 g and 32 g of O2. So 16 g of O2 have 22 g of CO2 or 0.5 moles of it.

Since.

C+ O2 ---> CO2
1mol 1mol 1mol
12 g+32g 44g,
(2*16)
32g of O2 gives 44g of CO2.
16g of O2 gives ?.

So, (16*44)/32 = 22g,
we know, No.of moles = Given mass/Molar mass,
= 22/44,
= 1/2 = 0.5 moles.

Very simple as one mole is equal to twelve items so one mole CO2 is 44g here out of which 32g is O2 means if oxygen is 16g then CO2 must be 22g so it is clear that CO2 is 22g as we have to convert it into moles it is 12/22 =0.5 moles which is the answer.

Molecular mass of CO2 is 44.

One mole of CO2 = 44 grams.

44 grams of CO2 contain 32 grams of Oxygen.

That means 32 grams of Oxygen is present in one mole of CO2.

In the same way 16 grams of oxygen will be present in 0.5 mole of CO2.

C + O2 -> CO2.
12 32 44gm.

16 gm mole of O2 contain is = weight in gram of the substance/molecular weight.
= 16/32.
= 0.5 gm.

Mass of carbon (1 atom) = 12g.
Mass of oxygen (2 atoms) = 16*2 = 32g.
Given mass = 16g.

No.of moles = given mass/actual mass.
=16g/32g.
=0.5g.

It is so simple we have given mass of oxygen is 16 gm and total mass=16*2= 32 we know that no of moles=given mass of oxygen/total mass oxygen.

The mass number of CO2 is 44 so we are going to used this to solved, the mass of 02 is 32 +c is 12 = 44 o 16/44= 0.37400~0.4 is the answer.

The atomic mass of O is 16 as from the question
at.wt of oxygen is 32
therefore no of moles=16/32==0.5

Oxygen is diatomic one atom is equal to 16 mole that why 16 is multiplied by two.

no mole = given mass/ total mass so,
16/32= 0.5.
