Galileo Galilei, was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher who played a major role in the Scientific Revolution.

Born: February 15, 1564, Pisa.

Died: January 8, 1642, Arcetri.

Education: University of Pisa.

Discovered: Ganymede, Europa, Callisto, Io.

Children: Maria Celeste, Vincenzo Gamba.

Discovery means originating a new thing from the old invention while inventing means to invent or found a new thing.

Galileo, was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer and philosopher who played a major role in the Scientific Revolution. His achievements include improvements to the telescope and consequent astronomical observations, and support for Copernicanism. Galileo has been called the "father of modern observational astronomy",the "father of modern physics",the "father of science" and "the Father of Modern Science". Stephen Hawking says, "Galileo, perhaps more than any other single person, was responsible for the birth of modern science."

The fundamental theoretic basis of modern astronomy, demonstrated by Nicolas COPERNICUS showed that the earth and other planets orbit around the sun.

The copernicus principle has some practical applications-some scientists use it when forming statistics and some even believe that it could be used to determine how long the human species would last on the earth!
