Potential energy means the energy which we can get without any motion device.
Kinetic energy means the energy which we can get from any motion.
Eg: wind energy, moving water energy for making electricity etc.
So battery provides energy without any motion i.e. static.
So it potential energy.

We use solar cell to get electricity from sun rays, which was an source but in case of battery it remains static

Because the battery stores the energy stationery until it is connected to a circuit.

Potential energy is the energy stored in a body or in a system due to its position in a force field or due to its configuration.
Potential energy exists when a force acts upon an object that tends to restore it to a lower energy configuration i.e. when we apply energy to any system it stores the energy as Potential Energy and it wants to release these energies to come to the lower energy level. Eg- If a string is stressed then it stores the energy as PE and releases it by compression and get back to lower Energy level.
Energy is stored in battery as PE but neither in Sun nor in any other option.

Sun has both because it has stored energy in the core but it is in motion as well and has a moving burning surface.
