For common base configuration, current gain is alpha. Its value lies b/w 0.05-0.99. Ic=alpha*Ie.

alpha=Ic/Ie
which is always less than 1.

current gain = Ic / Ie

= 4 / 4.2

= 0.95

It is common base configuration:

Circuit configuration of a bipolar transistor where emitter is the input electrode, collector is the output electrode and base is the reference electrode for both input and output. and it is gnd.

i.e.,
Current gain=I(out)/I(in) at RL=0.

4.0/4.2 = 0.95.

WHERE IC=O/P CURRENT AND IE =I/P CURRENT.

Alpha = Ic/Ie = 4.0/4.2 = 0.95.

Alpha always ranges from 0.95 to 0.98.

And alpha = ic/ie.

α=IC/IE.
there for α = 4.0/4.2 =0.95.

Given Data :
IE=4.2ma
IC=4.0mA.

Where, Alpha= IC/IE.
4.0/4.2=0.95.

Ic/Ie.

4.0ma/4.2ma = 0.95.
