In a degenerate n type semiconductor material, the Fermi level,
is in valence band
is in conduction band
is at the centre in between valence and conduction bands
is very near valence band

Degenerate semiconductor due to a high level of doping act like a metal. So fermi level should be in the conduction band.

Thanks for the explanation @Mahaz Tariq.

A degenerate semiconductor is a semiconductor with such a high level of doping that the material starts to act more like a metal than as a semiconductor. So fermi level is conduction band due to high doping n-type meterial.
