Edge triggered flip flops may also be a negative edge triggered flipflop.

Can you explain me difference between the positive edge-detection circuits and negative edge- detection circuits. ?

Sai said:   1 decade ago
Why only positive edge triggered?

Nikhil said:   1 decade ago
@Krishna.

Positive edge detection: Action takes place at low to high transition edge.

Negative edge detection: Action takes place at high to low transition edge.

1) Positive Edge-triggered flip-flops it must detect the low to high transition edge.

2) Negative Edge-triggered flip-flops it must detect high to low transition edge may be question Positive Edge-triggered ff.

Why only positive ? whats wrong with negative ?

I think a triangle in the ff means positive edge trigger so for negative edge there is a triangle + a bubble It means that for edge trigger there must be a triangle which means there is, +ve edge trigger is necessary.

The choice should have been edge transition detection circuit.

The right answer is at least two inputs to handle rising and falling edges.
