451/586.
Take 451 as 450 and 586 as 590.
Because as per approximation or numbers whatever rule it is ex: if the last digit number comes in b/w 1-5 i..e 451, 252, 555..it becomes 450 250 550
where as if the last digit no comes in b/w 6-10 like 456, 227, 228, 449...then take it As 460, 230, 230, 450.
Now 450/590
45/59
45)59(1.3

1/1.3
1*10/1.3/10

Hey, @Ami you divided 586 by 451 and you got 1.3.
Actual is 451 divided by 586. You have to just reciprocal it. Then simply you will get 1:1.3.
That's it yar.

When you divide x by y (x/y) you put 1 in the place of y and the quotient in the place of x.
Eg: 4 divided by 2 (or 4/2) is 2... actually it is 2 by 1 (or 2/1)..but here the denominator 1 has no real meaning.. so we take the answer as 2 alone.
However if you take the numerator as the divisor (in this case 451) and denominator as dividend (586) you need to put 1 in place of the divisor (i.e, numerator) and quotient in the place of dividend (i.e, denominator).

Ok we got 1/1.3. But how we get 10:13?
Please can anyone explain in a ease way?

Consider single year(1998) taxes and fuel, expenditure and calculate the ratio between them.
Taxes: Fuel and expenditure.
98:83 = 98/83 = 10/13.
Taxes: Fuel and expenditure.
98:83 = 98/83 = 10/13.

@Sonam its simple.
We just need to multiply numerator and denominator by 10 so as to eliminate the decimal. We need fraction as a whole number.
1*10/1.3*10 = 10/13.

Its that needs to divide twice?
1st 451 divide by 586 = 0.77 (approx).
2nd time 586 divide by 451 = 1.3.
Is this is the way to calculate? Please suggest. Thanks.

Guys,
I hope you understood how we got to 451/586.
Now just divide numerator and denominator with 451.
i.e. , (451/451)/(586/451) and that is equal to 1/1.29. So rounding off the denominator to one digit gives 1/1.3.
Now multiplying numerator and denominator by 10 gives (1*10)/(1.3*10).
And thus we arrive at the solution i.e. , 10/13.
