Jakarta is the city where the Embassy of India launched the AI Avatar DEWI in October 2026. The initiative aims to improve public outreach and service delivery through Artificial Intelligence, aligning with the M.A.N.A.V. Vision for adopting emerging technologies in governance. DEWI derives its name from the Sanskrit word Devī and is also a common name in Indonesia, reflecting the shared cultural heritage between India and Indonesia. The AI avatar provides information about scholarships, educational programmes, business and investment opportunities, and consular services. It also promotes Indian culture and travel experiences through social media platforms. The launch coincided with the beginning of the Navaratri and Durga Puja festival season.
