Bangladesh achieved a major milestone by entering the group of nations capable of generating electricity through nuclear energy. This development began with uranium fuel loading at Unit 1 of its first nuclear power facility, which has a total planned capacity of 2,400 MW. The project is expected to contribute significantly to meeting national electricity demand, supplying around 10–12% once fully operational. Supported by international collaboration, particularly from Russia, this initiative reflects Bangladesh’s commitment to diversifying its energy sources and strengthening long-term energy security.
