Vietnam will observe Friendship Year 2027 with India to commemorate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The decision was discussed during the 19th Joint Commission Meeting, co-chaired by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. India and Vietnam agreed to strengthen their strategic partnership through greater cooperation in defence, including the co-production of Indian defence equipment. Discussions also covered trade and economic cooperation in areas such as pharmaceuticals and agriculture. The two countries also explored collaboration in space and nuclear energy, reflecting the broadening scope of their bilateral relationship across strategic, economic, technological and energy sectors.
