Bhutan was the country visited by an Indian delegation led by the Secretary of the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation to strengthen cooperation on trans-boundary river management and hydropower projects. The discussions included reviewing ongoing joint initiatives, enhancing hydro-meteorological data sharing, improving flood forecasting systems, and addressing climate-related challenges such as glacial lake outburst floods and extreme weather events. The engagement reinforced the long-standing hydropower partnership between the two nations, which dates back to 1961 and was further strengthened through a bilateral agreement signed in 2006, emphasising sustainable and mutually beneficial resource management.
