Current Affairs - Important Days - Discussion

World Tourism Day is observed every year on September 27 to highlight the importance of tourism and its contributions to economies, societies and cultures. The first World Tourism Day was celebrated in 1980, following the adoption of the Statutes of the World Tourism Organisation in 1970. In 2026, the theme is “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” emphasising the growing role of digital technologies and AI in the tourism sector. The global celebration in 2026 is taking place in El Salvador. The international body associated with the observance is UN Tourism, formerly known as UNWTO.
