August 28 is observed as World Sanskrit Day 2026, also known as Sanskrit Diwas or Vishva Sanskrit Diwas. The day falls on Shravana Purnima, the full moon day of the Shravana month. Sanskrit Day has been officially observed in India since 1969 following notifications issued by the Union Ministry of Education.
