CISF Raising Day is observed every year on March 10 to commemorate the establishment of the Central Industrial Security Force in 1969 under the CISF Act, 1968. The day recognises the dedication, bravery and service of CISF personnel who protect India’s critical infrastructure. Initially formed with just three battalions and about 2,800 personnel, the force has grown significantly over the decades to more than 1,88,000 members. CISF plays a crucial role in safeguarding airports, metro networks, nuclear power plants, seaports and major government establishments. Various events such as ceremonial parades, awards and community programs are organized across the country to honour the contributions of the force.

The International Day to Combat Islamophobia is observed every year on March 15 to raise awareness about discrimination, prejudice, and hatred faced by Muslims around the world. The day encourages governments, organisations, and communities to promote tolerance, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence among people of different religions and cultures. The United Nations General Assembly declared this observance in 2022 through Resolution A/RES/76/254. The date was chosen to mark the anniversary of the 2019 Christchurch mosque attacks in New Zealand, where 51 people lost their lives. The observance highlights the importance of combating religious intolerance and promoting human rights, equality, and interfaith dialogue globally.

World Kidney Day 2026 will be observed on March 12, highlighting the importance of kidney health and raising awareness about chronic kidney disease (CKD). This global awareness event is observed every year on the second Thursday of March and encourages people to focus on prevention, early detection, and proper management of kidney-related diseases. The theme for 2026 is “Kidney Health for All – Caring for People, Protecting the Planet,” which emphasises both human health and environmental sustainability. Various organizations, hospitals, and health institutions around the world conduct screening programs, awareness campaigns, and educational initiatives to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce the growing burden of kidney diseases globally.

International Women’s Day is celebrated globally on March 8 each year to recognize the achievements and contributions of women in various fields such as education, politics, science, sports, and business. The day also promotes gender equality and women’s empowerment across societies. The 2026 celebration highlights themes like “Give To Gain” and “Rights. Justice. Action.” which emphasize cooperation, fairness, and equal opportunities for women and girls. International Women’s Day also draws attention to ongoing challenges, including equal pay, access to education, healthcare, safety, and representation in leadership roles. By raising awareness and encouraging collective action, the day supports progress toward a more inclusive and equitable world for women.

The International Day for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Awareness is observed annually on March 5. The day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly through Resolution A/RES/77/51 to raise awareness about the importance of disarmament, arms control, and non-proliferation in maintaining global peace and security. It encourages governments, UN agencies, civil society organisations, educational institutions, and the media to conduct awareness activities. The observance also emphasises educating young people about the risks associated with weapons of mass destruction, illegal arms trade, and emerging military technologies, while promoting dialogue, peacebuilding, and international cooperation to reduce armed conflict worldwide.
