National Safety Day is observed every year in India on March 4 to promote awareness about workplace safety, occupational health, and accident prevention. National Safety Day was first celebrated in 1972 and has since grown into a nationwide campaign encouraging industries and organizations to adopt better safety practices. The observance now extends into National Safety Week and even National Safety Month, during which seminars, safety drills, training programs, and awareness campaigns are conducted to strengthen safety culture across workplaces and protect employees from occupational hazards.

World Obesity Day is observed annually on March 4 to raise awareness about the global obesity crisis and encourage collective action to address this major public health challenge. Established by the World Obesity Federation in 2015, the observance was originally held on October 11 but was moved to March 4 in 2020 to align with other global health initiatives. The day focuses on promoting healthier lifestyles, improving access to nutritious food, and encouraging physical activity. It also highlights that obesity is a complex chronic disease influenced by genetic, environmental, social, and economic factors, requiring coordinated efforts from governments, healthcare professionals, and communities.

World Wildlife Day 2026 will be observed on March 3, marking the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in 1973. The day is dedicated to celebrating wild animals and plants while promoting global biodiversity conservation efforts. The 2026 theme focuses on “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods,” emphasising the importance of plant species in healthcare, cultural traditions, and sustainable economies. The observance highlights the urgent need to protect ecosystems, regulate wildlife trade, and address threats such as habitat destruction and climate change.

February 28 is observed annually as National Science Day in India to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C. V. Raman in 1928. This groundbreaking work explained the scattering of light through transparent materials and later earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930, making him the first Asian Nobel laureate in science. The Government of India officially designated this date as National Science Day in 1986. The occasion promotes scientific awareness, innovation, and research culture, while celebrating India’s significant contributions to global scientific advancement and encouraging future generations in STEM fields.

February 27 is observed globally as World NGO Day in 2026, recognizing the vital contributions of non-governmental organisations across sectors such as education, healthcare, environmental protection, human rights, and disaster relief.
