Gujarat was the state where a rare, non-venomous two-headed Wolf snake hatchling was discovered on October 7, 2026, in Dhanpur taluka of Dahod district. This discovery marked the first recorded instance of a two-headed snake in Gujarat and the fifth reported case in India. The hatchling measured approximately 5 to 6 inches and had two independent heads, four eyes, and two functioning mouths attached to a single body. This rare congenital condition is scientifically known as bicephaly or dicephalism, which occurs when an embryo fails to separate completely during development. The Gujarat Forest Department is responsible for the rescued specimen's custody and care.
