The main focus of the cleanliness drive was to remove plastic waste and other solid wastes from Kalindi Kunj ghat. This is the third time in the last two months NMCG has conducted a Swachhta drive at Kalindi Kunj ghat. Volunteers from NMCG and other stakeholders headed by Director General, NMCG, Rajiv Ranjan Mishra carried out the cleaning activities.

Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of Reserve Bank of India has increased the policy Repo Rate under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) by 25 basis points to 6.25 percent in the Second Bi-monthly Monetary Policy Statement (2018-19). Consequently, the reverse repo rate under the LAF stands adjusted to 6.0 percent, and the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate to 6.50 percent.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched Financial Literacy Week (FLW-2018) across the country with Customer Protection as its main theme. The event will focus on creating awareness among customers of banks about financial products and services, good financial practices and going digital. It will give out four consumer protection messages including 'know your liability' for unauthorised electronic banking transaction and good practices for a safe digital banking experience. Among various messages, customers will be told through banners and posters that in case of unauthorised digital transaction if bank is informed within 3 days, the liability of the account holder is zero.

In Uttarakhand, Polythene will be completely prohibited from 31st July in the state. All the polythene vendors have been asked to finish the polyethylene stock before 31st July. In Dehradun on the occasion of World Environment Day, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat stated, a comprehensive public awareness campaign will be launched on environmental damage caused by polythene, one week before the entire ban on polythene in the state.

Tamil Nadu government announced a ban on manufacture, sales, storage and usage of disposable plastic across State with effective from January 1, 2019. However, the ban excludes using disposable plastic for packaging milk, curd, oil and medical utilities. The ban was primarily on plastic carry bags, plastic plates, plastic cups, plastic flags, small plastic sachets used in packaging water.

The Madhya Pradesh government has announced an outstanding power bill waiver scheme for laborers and poor families. The state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved the Bijli Bill Mafi Yojana 2018 (Power Bill Waiver Scheme) which is expected to benefit about 77 lakh people of the state.

The Ministry of Agriculture and farmers welfare in line with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of doubling farmers' income by 2022 has launched the Krishi kalyan Abhiyaan from 1st June to 31st July, 2018. The purpose of the scheme is to aid, assist and advice farmers on how to improve their farming techniques and raise their incomes. The Krishi kalyan Abhiyaan will be undertaken in 25 Villages with more than 1000 population each in Aspirational Districts identified in consultation with Ministry of Rural Development as per directions of NITI Ayog.

Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh took to Twitter and shared the details about the same. The Minister termed Mumbai and Vizag as the driving force behind the Fintech platform. Lokesh hoped that new association will pave the way for enhanced financial technology innovation in both the states.

India cricket captain Virat Kohli is among the world's highest-paid athletes, according to a Forbes compilation topped by American boxing champion Floyd Mayweather. Kohli, the only sportsperson from India to be featured in the list, is ranked 83rd with earnings of USD 24 million. The 'World's Highest-Paid Athletes 2018' list is topped by 41-year-old Mayweather, with USD 285 million earnings.

K Alagesan has been given additional charge as its Chairman and Managing Director of ITI Limited following the retirement of S Gopu. An order from the ministry of communications, department of telecommunications, said that Alagesan is director (production and human resource) of ITI Limited. He has been working for ITI Limited since January 1982. He joined the company as assistant executive engineer.

SBI has increased its lending rate by 10 basis points for all tenors upto 3 years. The MCLR for overnight and one month tenors is for 7.9% and for the three years tenor is 8.45%. PNB has raised tenors for 3 and 5 years to 8.55% and 8.7%. PNB has also raised the base rate of 9.15% to 9.25%.ICICI has raised MCLR for 5 year tenors to 8.70% and also changed tenors for three and one year.

The two-day 49th Conference of Governors concluded in New Delhi. The President exhorted Governors to take the lead in adopting modern technology and methods. The Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Minister for Home Affairs also addressed the concluding session of the Conference.

A. Dhiraj Ram Krishna, a young engineer from Coimbatore, has won the 'National Gopal Ratna' award from the Central Government on June 2 for cattle rearing and dairying. He received the award from the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Radha Mohan Singh in New Delhi for 'upkeep of the best dairy animals of indigenous breeds'.

SEBI amended its 'Takeover Code' to remove capital infusion hurdles in companies with approved resolution plans under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). The SEBI move is expected to smoothen the implementation of successful resolution plans. The 'Takeover Code' barred acquirers of shares in a company from entering into any transaction.

Telangana government and the LIC signed a MoU for the implementation of a Rs five lakh life insurance scheme for the benefit of farmers in the state. The scheme will be implemented from August 15. The agriculture department alone would implement the scheme and the AEOs (Agriculture Extension Officers) should get the insurance papers filled up by farmers before August 15.
