m= 10,
j= 5,
r= 3,
(r+m)-2j.
= (3+10)-2 * 5.
= 3.

Answer is right.

m=12, j=7, r=5.
D=m+r-2j = 12 +5-2*7=3.
So, the answer is 3.

How j= 5?

I think its 6.

So, the Answer is 1.

This is an example of a pin jointed frame and as such, the formula should be D=n+r-2j.

where D= degree of indeterminacy.
n= number of member= 10,
r= number of reaction=3,
j= number of joints=5.

Hence, we have D=10+3-2(5)= 3.

Take m =12, r=3, j=6, we get the answer as 3.

Ans should be 1.
m=10,
r=3,
j=6.

m=2j - 3
10=12 - 3
= 1.

So the Ans is 1. How it is 3? please explain.

Why you calculate r =5?

If here joint take 6 then member 10. The answer is 1. If take joint 7 then member 12. The answer is 1.

So the answer is always 1.
