38.
A simply supported beam carrying a uniformly distributed load over its whole span, is propped at the centre of the span so that the beam is held to the level of the end supports. The reaction of the prop will be
half the distributed load
3/8th the distributed load
5/8th the distributed load
distributed load.

The beam held to the level of end means deflection equals to zero @ med span.

Deflection from distributed load = 5wl^4/384EI (EQ: 1).

Deflection from PROP load = PL^3/48EI (EQ: 2).

From eq1 & eq2.

5wl^4/384EI = PL^3/48EI.

P = 5wl/8.

A beam of span l is fixed at one end & simply supported at other end. It carries uniformly distributed load of w per unit run over the whole span. The reaction at the simply supported end is what ?
