If the diameter of the longitudinal bars of a square column is 16 mm, the diameter of lateral ties should not be less than 6 mm. This is because the diameter of lateral ties should be greater of d/4 or 6 mm, whichever is greater.
In this case, d/4 is 16/4 = 4 mm, which is less than 6 mm, so the diameter of lateral ties should be 6 mm.
In this case, d/4 is 16/4 = 4 mm, which is less than 6 mm, so the diameter of lateral ties should be 6 mm.

The diameter of transverse reinforcement (lateral ties) is determined from cl.26.5.3.2 C-2 of IS 456 as not less than (i) φ /4 and (ii) 6 mm.
Here, φ = largest bar diameter used as longitudinal reinforcement = 20 mm. So, the diameter of bars used as lateral ties = 6 mm.
Here, φ = largest bar diameter used as longitudinal reinforcement = 20 mm. So, the diameter of bars used as lateral ties = 6 mm.

The given answer is correct, Because the lateral ties dia is one-fourth of longitudinal bar dia..so here 1/4 *16=4 mm.
The imp condition is that it should be not less than 5mm according to Khurmi book..so answer is 5mm.
The imp condition is that it should be not less than 5mm according to Khurmi book..so answer is 5mm.

The diameter of the polygonal links or lateral ties shall be not less than one-fourth of the diameter of the largest "longitudinal bar, and in no case less than 5mm.

The diameter of the lateral ties should not be less than 1/4th of the diameter of the largest longitudinal bar and in no case less than 6 mm.
So answer is 6mm.
So answer is 6mm.

As per sp:30-1987 clause. 7.2.6.2.
The Dia of lateral ties shall not be less than 1/4th of dia of largest longitudinal bar & in no case less than 5 mm.

Diameter of longitudinal bar is one-fourth of maximum diameter in the column, min of 6mm.
Here it 16/4=4 mm or min of 6mm. So answer is 6mm not 5 mm.
Here it 16/4=4 mm or min of 6mm. So answer is 6mm not 5 mm.

The diameter of lateral ties should be greater of d/4; or 6mm.
16/4= 4mm, in this case, 6mm is greater,
So, the given answer is correct.
16/4= 4mm, in this case, 6mm is greater,
So, the given answer is correct.

Diameter of the lateral ties should be maximum of;
1) 1/4th of the main bar and
2) 6mm
So the answer here should be 6mm.
1) 1/4th of the main bar and
2) 6mm
So the answer here should be 6mm.

We know minimum dia of stirrups bar in a column is least of the following (d/4 or 6mm).
So here dia of stirrups is 6mm.
So here dia of stirrups is 6mm.
