Two types of concrete pumps are used:
Direct-acting, horizontal piston type with semi-rotary valves set to permit always the passage of the largest aggregate particles. This type of pump can cover a horizontal distance of 1000 m and a vertical distance of 120 m. The concrete is fed in by gravity and is also partially sucked in during the suction stroke. The valves open and close with definite pauses so that concrete moves in a series of impulses, but the pipe always remains full. These pumps are capable of pumping 130 m3 of concrete per hour with 8-inch pipes.

Actually I have done practically concrete by pumps and placing booms. Even till 100m we have to connect steel pipes. The standard length of boom for pumps is 56m. For further you have to connect pipes. The more pipes. The more chances of blast of pipes. Extra pipe length is 3m we connect by clamps. 400m is not possible. I don't how they gave this answer.

Most pumps can transport concrete more than 60 m vertically or 300 m horizontally (shorter distances when pumping both horizontally and vertically).
Some high-pressure pumps have achieved heights in excess of 400 m and horizontal distances greater than 1000 m.

I think this answer is not appropriate. Because I personally done concreting by pump more then 400 metre from pouring location. So this is just a thumb rule type of concept which is made that before 10-20 years may be.

The effective pumping distance:
300-1000ft for horizontal.
100-300ft for vertically.
So 400m is right option.

The latest pump concreting in horizontal distance upto 2000 meter & vertical 400 meter by Puzmesister pump machine. It depends upon machine "Bar power".

Question is wrong there is no such standard limit even pumps pumping concrete upto 1 km are available.

50 m only it's about vertical distance not a horizontal.
We can move upward by pump only 50 m.
We can move upward by pump only 50 m.

Yes, 400m is right but for horizontal distances, for the vertical distance it is 0-80m.

Yes, wrong question we have done concrete in pump wherever it is inaccessible.
