It can be done in a much simpler way.
(A+B)'s 1-day work = 1/8.
(B+C)'s 1-day work = 1/12.
(A+B)+(B+C)'s 1 day work= 1/8+1/12.
B+(A+B+C)=5/24,
B=5/24-1/6,
B=1/24.
So, A+B+C=1/6,
Putting the value of B.
(A+C)'s 1 day work = 1/6 - 1/24 = 1/8.
Time taken = 8 days.
(A+B)'s 1-day work = 1/8.
(B+C)'s 1-day work = 1/12.
(A+B)+(B+C)'s 1 day work= 1/8+1/12.
B+(A+B+C)=5/24,
B=5/24-1/6,
B=1/24.
So, A+B+C=1/6,
Putting the value of B.
(A+C)'s 1 day work = 1/6 - 1/24 = 1/8.
Time taken = 8 days.

(A+B)+(B+C)+(C+A) = 2 (A+B+C).
1/8 + 1/12+ (C+A) = 2 * 1/6.
1/8 + 1/12+ (C+A) = 2 * 1/6.

(A + B + C)'s 1 day's work = 1/6
(A + B)'s 1 day's work = 1/8
(B + C)'s 1 day's work = 1/12
so c's 1 day's work=1/6-1/8=1/24
and a's 1 day's work=1/6-1/12=1/12
and b's 1 day work=1/6(1/24+1/12)=1/4
so a and c 1'day work=1/12+1/24=1/8
(A + B)'s 1 day's work = 1/8
(B + C)'s 1 day's work = 1/12
so c's 1 day's work=1/6-1/8=1/24
and a's 1 day's work=1/6-1/12=1/12
and b's 1 day work=1/6(1/24+1/12)=1/4
so a and c 1'day work=1/12+1/24=1/8

Assume A+C as x
so now
2(A+B+C)=1/8+1/12+1/x
2(1/6) =5/24+1/x
finally
x =8
so now
2(A+B+C)=1/8+1/12+1/x
2(1/6) =5/24+1/x
finally
x =8
