Excluding stoppages, the speed of a bus is 54 kmph and including stoppages, it is 45 kmph. For how many minutes does the bus stop per hour?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Due to stoppages, it covers 9 km less.

@All.
if ans 10mins, 54*60 = 45*(60+10) which is not correct
if ans 12 mins, 54*60 = 45*(60+12) which is correct
So ans is 12 mins, not 10 mins.
if ans 10mins, 54*60 = 45*(60+10) which is not correct
if ans 12 mins, 54*60 = 45*(60+12) which is correct
So ans is 12 mins, not 10 mins.

Ans is 12 min. Solve the problem by taking 10mins and then 12mins.

@ALL.
The direct formula is (excluding-including*60/excluding).

I'm not clear why we take 54. I think we take 45 because in 54 the bus is not stopped then how can 54 gives us the stoppage time?
If we take 45 so we get the answer (12).
If we take 45 so we get the answer (12).

@Yash Soni.
If we take 45 then the bus is already stopped. And 45 is not the actual bus speed. It's the speed that is just calculated when the bus is stopped at stops. So 54 is its actual speed. So we should take 54.

How we will calculate ratio of travelling time and stoppage time in this question?

To cover 54km it takes 60 min, for 1 km time taken = 60/54, then for 45km time =(60/54)*45 = 50min, to cover 45km it just need 50min but it take 60min with stoppage, it take extra 10 min which means the bus stop for 10min.

Why is it written 150 instead of 50%?

We can do this simply by ratios.
Given speeds 54kmph,45kmph ratio:54:45,
Speeds ratio- 6:5.
Times ratio will be- 5:6 (since speed and time are inversely proportional).
In times ratio 1 part difference is there hence in total 6 parts 1 part is stoppage we calculate (1/6)*60=10.
