1.
A person crosses a 600 m long street in 5 minutes. What is his speed in km per hour?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
| Speed = | ![]() |
600 | m/sec. |
| 5 x 60 |
= 2 m/sec.
Converting m/sec to km/hr (see important formulas section)
| = | ![]() |
2 x | 18 | ![]() |
km/hr |
| 5 |
= 7.2 km/hr.

We know that, 1 km = 1000 m and 1 hr = 3600 min i.e., 60 min*60 sec.
Like wise, 1 m = 0.001 km and 1 min = 0.00027777777 hr.
Which means, 1 m = 1/1000 = 0.001 km.
1 min = 1/3600=0.00027777777 hr.
So, km/hr = 0.001/0.00027777777 = 3.
6 which means 18/5.
That's why, for km/hr conversion we use 18/5.

Speed = Distance/Time.
Here Distance = 600 meters and Time = 5 mins.
Therefore, Speed = 600/5 meters/minutes.
We have to write it as in terms of meters/seconds. So we are multiplying it with 60 (1 min = 60 seconds).
So, Speed = 600/(5 x 60 sec) meters/seconds.
Here Distance = 600 meters and Time = 5 mins.
Therefore, Speed = 600/5 meters/minutes.

s = d/t.
s = 600m/5min.
120m/1min.
60*120/60*1.
7200m/60min .
7.2km/1hr.
s = 600m/5min.
120m/1min.
60*120/60*1.
7200m/60min .
7.2km/1hr.

1st step:- change 600m into km.
600/1000 = 0.6.
2nd step:- change time 5 minutes into hrs.
5/60 = 0.0833.
You know,
speed = distance/time.
Now put the values,
Speed = 0.6/0.0833.
= 7.2.
600/1000 = 0.6.
2nd step:- change time 5 minutes into hrs.
5/60 = 0.0833.
You know,
speed = distance/time.
Now put the values,
Speed = 0.6/0.0833.
= 7.2.

600/5*60 = 2 m/sec.
Converting to km/h,
= 2*18/5.
= 7.2 km/h.
Converting to km/h,
= 2*18/5.
= 7.2 km/h.

Speed = distance/time (or) m/sec.
1 min = 60 sec; 5 min = 5*60 sec = 300 sec.
Speed(x) = 600/300.
= 2m/sec.
x*(m/sec) = (x*18/5)km/hr.
= (2*18/5)km/hr.
= 36/5.
= 7.2.
1 min = 60 sec; 5 min = 5*60 sec = 300 sec.
Speed(x) = 600/300.
= 2m/sec.
x*(m/sec) = (x*18/5)km/hr.
= (2*18/5)km/hr.
= 36/5.
= 7.2.

2*60(min)*60(hr)/1000.
Then we get the answer 36/10(or)18/5*2.
Answer=7.2km/hr.
Then we get the answer 36/10(or)18/5*2.
Answer=7.2km/hr.
