The price of 2 sarees and 4 shirts is Rs. 1600. With the same money one can buy 1 saree and 6 shirts. If one wants to buy 12 shirts, how much shall he have to pay ?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the price of a saree and a shirt be Rs. x and Rs. y respectively.
Then, 2x + 4y = 1600 .... (i)
and x + 6y = 1600 .... (ii)
Divide equation (i) by 2, we get the below equation. => x + 2y = 800. --- (iii) Now subtract (iii) from (ii) x + 6y = 1600 (-) x + 2y = 800 ---------------- 4y = 800 ---------------- Therefore, y = 200. Now apply value of y in (iii) => x + 2 x 200 = 800 => x + 400 = 800 Therefore x = 400
Solving (i) and (ii) we get x = 400, y = 200.
Cost of 12 shirts = Rs. (12 x 200) = Rs. 2400.

1 saree = 2 shirts.
2 sarees + 4 shirts = 1600.
6 sarees = 1600.
1 saree = 400.
1 shirt = 200.
12 shirt = 12 * 200 = 2400.
2 sarees + 4 shirts = 1600.
6 sarees = 1600.
1 saree = 400.
1 shirt = 200.
12 shirt = 12 * 200 = 2400.

let X denotes saree and y denotes Shirt.
From the question,
2x+4y = 1600 ..........(1).
x+6y =1600 ..............(2).
From eqn (1) and (2).
2x+4y = x+6y
2x-x = 6y-4y
or x = 2y..................(3).
Put the value of x in eqn (2).
2y+6y = 1600.
8y =1600.
y =200.
Put the value of y in eqn (3) we get the value of saree that is :
x = 2y = 400.
1 saree = 400.
1 shirt = 200.
12 shirt = 12 * 200 = 2400.

Given 2 sarees & 4 shirts= 1600 ......(1).
With same many he can buy 1 saree & 6 shirts.
Therefore 1 saree cost = 2 shirts cost.
Hence 2 saree = 4 shirts.
In (1) 8 shirts = 1600.
1 shirt = 200.
12 shirts = 2400.
With same many he can buy 1 saree & 6 shirts.
Therefore 1 saree cost = 2 shirts cost.
Hence 2 saree = 4 shirts.
In (1) 8 shirts = 1600.
1 shirt = 200.
12 shirts = 2400.

2 sarees + 4 shirts = 1600 equation1*6 = 12 sarees + 24 shirts = 9600.
1 saree + 6 shirts = 1600 equation2*4 = 4 sarees + 24 shirts = 6400.
8 sarees = 3200.
1 saree = 400.
Is this process is correct or wrong if wrong can you tell me why it is wrong so that I will come to know please help me to get the answer.

2 sarees+4 shirts=1600.
Then the ratio is 1:2.
Simply 1600/2=800.
Then 2 sarees cost 800.
4 shirts cost 800.
800/4=200 one shirt value is 200 only.

Subtract from 1 and 2 gets 1 sarees = 2 shirts.
Put into Eqn 1 and gets values of shirt which is 200.
After that 12 * 200 = 2400.
