The price of 2 sarees and 4 shirts is Rs. 1600. With the same money one can buy 1 saree and 6 shirts. If one wants to buy 12 shirts, how much shall he have to pay ?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the price of a saree and a shirt be Rs. x and Rs. y respectively.
Then, 2x + 4y = 1600 .... (i)
and x + 6y = 1600 .... (ii)
Divide equation (i) by 2, we get the below equation. => x + 2y = 800. --- (iii) Now subtract (iii) from (ii) x + 6y = 1600 (-) x + 2y = 800 ---------------- 4y = 800 ---------------- Therefore, y = 200. Now apply value of y in (iii) => x + 2 x 200 = 800 => x + 400 = 800 Therefore x = 400
Solving (i) and (ii) we get x = 400, y = 200.
Cost of 12 shirts = Rs. (12 x 200) = Rs. 2400.

It can be also solved as
Let the cost of the saree and shirts be x and y respectively.
Given;
2x+4y = 1x+6y.
Solving
X = 2y.
Now substitute the above value in 2x + 4y = 1600.
2(2y) + 4y = 1600,
4y + 4y = 1600,
Therefore, y = 200,
12*200 = 2400.
Let the cost of the saree and shirts be x and y respectively.
Given;
2x+4y = 1x+6y.
Solving

Now substitute the above value in 2x + 4y = 1600.
2(2y) + 4y = 1600,
4y + 4y = 1600,
Therefore, y = 200,
12*200 = 2400.

Let the price of saree and shirt be x and y.
2x + 4y =1600,
x+6y= 1600,
2(x+6y=1600) => 2x + 12y=3200.
8y=1600,
y=1600/8,
y=200,
12*200,
Price = 2400.
2x + 4y =1600,
x+6y= 1600,
2(x+6y=1600) => 2x + 12y=3200.
8y=1600,
y=1600/8,
y=200,
12*200,
Price = 2400.

2 sari +4 shirt = 1600.
1 sari + 6 shirt = 1600.
It means when one sari decreased than 2 more shirts can be bought
So;
1 sari + 6 shirts can be equal to 8 shirts.
8 shirt=1600,
1 shirt =200,
Now cost of 12 shirts =12*200 = 2400.

Subtract from 1 and 2 gets 1 sarees = 2 shirts.
Put into Eqn 1 and gets values of shirt which is 200.
After that 12 * 200 = 2400.

2 sarees+4 shirts=1600.
Then the ratio is 1:2.
Simply 1600/2=800.
Then 2 sarees cost 800.
4 shirts cost 800.
800/4=200 one shirt value is 200 only.
