In a mixture 60 litres, the ratio of milk and water 2 : 1. If this ratio is to be 1 : 2, then the quantity of water to be further added is:
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Quantity of milk = | ![]() |
60 x | 2 | ![]() |
3 |
Quantity of water in it = (60- 40) litres = 20 litres.
New ratio = 1 : 2
Let quantity of water to be added further be x litres.
Then, milk : water = | ![]() |
40 | ![]() |
. |
20 + x |
Now, | ![]() |
40 | ![]() |
= | 1 |
20 + x | 2 |
20 + x = 80
x = 60.
Quantity of water to be added = 60 litres.

60 litres milk: water
2:1 then,
2x + x = 60
x = 20
1 : 2 ?
x + 2x = ?
3x = ?
3 * 20 = 60.
2:1 then,
2x + x = 60
x = 20
1 : 2 ?
x + 2x = ?
3x = ?
3 * 20 = 60.

So the ratio using;
n = a + b/c + d.
2 + 1/1 + 2 = 1.
Q = 1
Therefore,
1*60 = 60litres.
n = a + b/c + d.
2 + 1/1 + 2 = 1.
Q = 1
Therefore,
1*60 = 60litres.

You can apply 4th std formula:
Ratio:
2/1.
1/2.
Liter:
60.
(?).
Then 1/2x60x2/1 = 60.
Ratio:
2/1.
1/2.
Liter:
60.
(?).
Then 1/2x60x2/1 = 60.

By Using the relation,
X(ad-bc)/c(a+b)
We get,
= 60(2×2-1×1)/1(2+1),
= 60(4-1)/3,
= 60.
X(ad-bc)/c(a+b)
We get,
= 60(2×2-1×1)/1(2+1),
= 60(4-1)/3,
= 60.

(m1*w1)/L1 = (m2*w2)/L2.
(2*1)/60 = (1*2)/L2.
2/60 = 2/L2.
2L2 = 120.
L2 = 60.
(2*1)/60 = (1*2)/L2.
2/60 = 2/L2.
2L2 = 120.
L2 = 60.

Simple formula is X(ad-bc)/c(a+b).
Applying this.
60(4-1)/1(2+1),
60*3/3= 60 ltr.
Applying this.
60(4-1)/1(2+1),
60*3/3= 60 ltr.
