In a mixture 60 litres, the ratio of milk and water 2 : 1. If this ratio is to be 1 : 2, then the quantity of water to be further added is:
20 litres
30 litres
40 litres
60 litres
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Quantity of milk = 60 x 2 litres = 40 litres.
3

Quantity of water in it = (60- 40) litres = 20 litres.

New ratio = 1 : 2

Let quantity of water to be added further be x litres.

Then, milk : water = 40 .
20 + x

Now, 40 = 1
20 + x 2

20 + x = 80

x = 60.

Quantity of water to be added = 60 litres.

2 : 1.
1 : 2 = 2 : 4, 3parts increases.

3parts = 60

Very simple in inverted method says.

a : b = b : a.

i.e a/b = b/a so, answer is 60 the same.

Can anybody please answer this question?

The ratio of milk to water in the first container = 5 : 1.

The ratio of milk to water in the second container = 7 : 2.

In what ratio the mixtures of this two container should be added together so that the quantity of milk in the new mixture may become 80 %?

ANOTHER WAY WE CAN SOLVE BY,

Let quantity of water to be added further be x litres.

2:1

1:2 :: 60:x.

(2/1)*(1/2) = 60/x.

x = 60.

Old: 2:1 mix = 60.

New: (1:2)*2 = 2:4.

Water added = (1*60)/4-1 = 20.

New mix = 20+40 = 60.

2:1 ratio.

M:W

For milk: 2/3*60 = 40 lts milk.

For water: 60-40 = 20 lts water.

1:2 ratio.

M:W.

For water: 2/3*60 = 40 ltrs water.

What he is asked total water mixture i.e 20+40 = 60?

You can apply 4th std formula:

Ratio:

2/1.
1/2.

Liter:

60.
(?).

Then 1/2x60x2/1 = 60.
